SEMA Battle of the Builders 2019

Television special premieres for first time ever on A+E Networks’ FYI and HISTORY’s DRIVE block

Cam Miller, Jeremiah Proffitt, RJ DeVera serve as judges

DIAMOND BAR, CA – November 6, 2019 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) –  Open exclusively to builders with vehicles displayed at the world’s leading automotive trade event, the SEMA Battle of the Builders® competition includes nearly 300 vehicle builders vying for the top title in the prestigious competition. With the competition unfolding annually at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nev., the SEMA Battle of the Builders serves as the focal point for a nationwide television special and provides builders and exhibitors with increased brand awareness.

“Since the competition debuted in 2014, the SEMA Battle of the Builders has given hundreds of builders added exposure,” said Ira Gabriel, SEMA VP of Marketing, PR and Communications. “The media attention has also motivated and inspired consumers and enthusiasts to modify their vehicles.”

This year’s SEMA Battle of the Builders is being filmed for a television special that will air for the first time ever on A+E Networks’ FYI and HISTORY’s DRIVE block. Judging this year’s competition are Cam Miller, 2016 SEMA Battle of the Builders winner; Jeremiah Proffitt, a Top 12 finalist from the 2018 program; and RJ DeVera from Meguiar’s.

“A+E Networks is pleased to bring Battle of the Builders to its new home on FYI and HISTORY in 2020,” said Christian Murphy, Head of Enthusiast Brands, A+E Networks. “This original programming – showcasing truckloads of talent, craftsmanship and creativity – epitomizes the type of insider-content our passionate audiences are eager to engage with and find on our enthusiast blocks.”

The three SEMA Battle of the Builders judges will select the top builders in the hot rod, truck/off-road and sport compact categories, while social media influencers select top builders in the category referred to as “Young Guns,” which represents builders age 27 or younger.

The Top 12 finalists will be announced during the SEMA Show on Wednesday, Nov. 6, and then they will become the judges to determine the ultimate winner who is announced at the official SEMA Show after party, SEMA Ignited held on Nov. 8.

“The SEMA Battle of the Builders competition has become a coveted honor for builders and a great way to celebrate the passion and excitement of the industry,” said Gabriel. “We’re excited to bring the SEMA Battle of the Builders to FYI and HISTORY’s DRIVE block and looking forward to engaging their audiences.”
