Pirelli Riders Capture Two out of Three 450 Podium Positions
ONTARIO, CANADA – August 18, 2020 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Pirelli Tire North America completed a successful week at Walton Raceway by capturing the 450 Pro Class overall victory during Round 3 of the Rockstar Triple Crown Championship on Sunday. Pirelli, which served as the “Official Motorcycle Tire” throughout the week for the 2020 Walton TransCan Grand National Championship, achieved great results in the muddy conditions thanks to the performance of the SCORPION™ MX32™ Mid Soft front and SCORPION™ MX Soft rear tires.
Defending Rockstar Triple Crown champion Phil Nicoletti started his weekend at Walton on a high note by capturing the first moto win aboard his Rockstar Yamaha OTSFF Racing equipped with SCORPION™ MX tires. Nicoletti’s consistency and Moto 2 runner-up finish would be good enough to secure the 450 Pro overall victory, making it the second consecutive season in which he has stood on the top step of the podium at the iconic Canadian facility.

Nicoletti’s Rockstar Yamaha OTSFF Racing teammate Shawn Maffenbeier was quick out of the gate in Moto 1 and paced him much of the moto, eventually crossing the checkered flag in second for a one-two finish. He charged to a strong third place in Moto 2, earning a season-best third overall on the day and giving Pirelli two of three podiums positions in 450 Pro.
The victory by Nicoletti moved him to within 22-points of the championship point lead. Maffenbeier sits fifth in the standings, just ahead of teammate Sam Gaynor. Pirelli’s SCORPION™ MX range controls three of the top positions in the series’ overall standings.
