To the members of the American Flat Track Community,
As we prepare to announce an updated race schedule for what has proven to be a challenging 2020 season, we wanted to inform our partners, stakeholders and community of the various processes that have been occurring behind the scenes in order to get us back to the racetrack.
We have been in daily communication with venues, local and state officials to determine the overall climate of our markets. Simultaneously, we have been in consultation with NASCAR and other motorsports properties to align best practices and guidelines for safety. Furthermore, AFT officials have participated as part of the Safe To Race Task Force in collaboration with our colleagues from MX Sports, AMA, Feld Entertainment, MotoAmerica, Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, United States Motorsports Association, NBC Sports/Ignite Partners, Daytona International Speedway, several technology companies, medical professionals, racing venues and other highly regarded industry veterans. Together, this Safe to Race Task Force has developed a Best Practices Toolkit for preserving the health and safety of staff, competitors and fans.
As a result of the careful planning and strategizing that has occurred over the previous weeks, I’d like to share the various considerations and precautions we are taking as we prepare to return to racing:
- Physical Distancing and Limited Capacity Measures
- Cleanliness and Sanitation
- Screening and Prevention Support
- Education and Training for Staff and Stakeholders
In the coming days, we plan to announce our updated 2020 schedule along with details about the new sanitation and health procedures we’re implementing to promote the well-being of our fans, competitors and event staff.
As challenging as this crisis has been, we appreciate how unified and supportive our community has remained in its dedication to the sport. We look forward to returning to the racetrack and to what we know will be another thrilling season of American Flat Track.
