
Webb, Sexton, Ferrandis take class titles; Savatgy, Marchbanks named rookies of the year
PICKERINGTON, OH – May 7, 2018 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – The American Motorcyclist Association crowned the 2019 champions of Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, at the series finale in Las Vegas on May 4.

KTM’s Cooper Webb took the premier 450SX Class national championship. The 250SX West title went to Yamaha rider Dylan Ferrandis. The 250SX East champion is Chase Sexton, who rode a Honda.

For 2019, Kawasaki rider Joey Savatgy is the 450SX Class AMA Rookie of the Year, and Kawasaki rider Garrett Marchbanks is the 250SX Class AMA Rookie of the Year.

“Joey and Garrett proved themselves throughout the 2019 season,” said AMA Supercross Manager Mike Pelletier. “We look forward to seeing them both continue to display their skills in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series for many seasons to come.”
An AMA Rookie of the Year award is presented to the first-year rider who accumulates the most championship points in each Monster Energy AMA Supercross class.
Webb clinched the 450SX Class title with a third-place finish in the Main Event. He finished the season 18 points ahead of Kawasaki rider Eli Tomac, who won the Las Vegas event.

Ferrandis won the 250SX Main Event in Las Vegas, finishing the season 15 points ahead of Kawasaki rider Adam Cianciarulo and 46 points ahead of Colt Nichols, who rides a Yamaha.
Sexton finished fourth in Las Vegas, accumulating 193 points for the season, placing him 13 points ahead of Yamaha rider Justin Cooper. Austin Forkner on a Kawasaki finished third in the season points totals.
