DALLAS, TX – April 18, 2018 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Steve Collier collects 2nd Wally in NHRA and Lucas Oil Competition at Texas Motorplex this past weekend. The Collier family name has dominated in Super Comp so far in the NHRA South Central Division.
The 3rd stop on the NHRA South Central Division Schedule at Texas Motorplex saw a Collier name holding the Super Comp Wally. Steve Collier drove his Manpower Group Dragster thru a field of drivers to meet a close friend in the finals, Ross Laris. Steve was standing in the way of Laris’s potential “Double Win” as he was in the finals of Top Dragster. Collier would light up the scoreboard with a great 8.905 on the 8.90 index Collier comes out on top. Steve takes Wally number 2 home in Super Comp this season increasing his points total in Lucas Oil Competition and resides at the top of the Division Leaderboard.
“Racing Ross (Laris) is a lot of fun, yet he was rolling driving 2 cars thru a tough class in Top Dragster and Super Comp, it will make for good storytelling that I stopped his double chances,” chuckled Steve Collier. “We are going to try and keep this momentum moving for our team.”
Collier Family Racing brought out their Top Alcohol Dragster at the event for the first time, with the oldest Collier driving again this year. The Dragster is designated as A/Fuel and Collier is enjoying driving, yet looking for a consistency like the teams fleet of 90 Racing Machines.
“We are still learning this whole A/Fuel deal, it is a completely different monster than the 90 cars, we can dial, tune, change, repeat whatever we need in the Manpower Cars,” said Collier. “We are learning the hard way, we will get it, our family does not quit.”
The team will bring their fleet of Manpower 90 racing machines back to Royal Purple Raceway this weekend at the Mello Yello NHRA Drag Racing Event. Keep up with the action on NHRA All Access.
