Renegade Returns: Triumph Factory Racing joins forces with Renegade for World Supersport Campaign

ATLANTA, GA – October 30, 2026 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – The Renegade name is set to return as Triumph Factory Racing confirms an exciting new-look and expansion for its 2027 World Supersport campaign. The new partnership will see Renegade become Triumph’s official factory team in the FIM Supersport World Championship, marking an exciting new chapter in Supersport as the Renegade Triumph Factory Racing team.

Race fans will be familiar with the Renegade name from the early 2000’s when the team burst onto the British racing scene. Established by Mark Griffiths, Renegade Racing enjoyed immediate success in 2002 with Michael Rutter finishing runner-up in the British Superbike Championship, and the team securing the Teams’ Championship in its debut season.

Another successful year in BSB followed and in 2004 the team moved to the World Superbike Championship with Noriyuki Haga and Leon Haslam, where Haga delivered the team’s first WorldSBK victory at the opening round in Valencia.

Now more than two decades on, the Renegade name will return to the world stage in a new chapter with Triumph Factory Racing and the all-new Triumph Street Triple 798 RS, as Renegade looks to challenge the highly competitive Supersport World Championship.

Alongside Renegade and as part of an expanded campaign on the Supersport grid for ’27, PTR Triumph Racing will continue as a Triumph factory supported team after six successful years with the Street Triple 765 RS. From the first podium and race victory in 2022 with Stefano Manzi, PTR Racing and Triumph have celebrated five wins and a further 21 podiums in the world series. The British manufacturer will also continue to support the Czech-based Compos Racing team.

Further announcements about the Renegade Triumph Factory Racing teams’ rider line-up will be revealed in due course.

Mark Griffiths, Team Owner, Renegade Triumph Factory Racing said: “It’s a proud moment for Renegade to be representing Triumph in international competition and we’re really looking forward to the challenge ahead. Triumph has already enjoyed great success in the MX2 Motocross World Championship with Guillem and Camden, and we’re excited to build on that success in World Supersport.

“I first met Steve and his team in July and we’ve achieved a lot together in a relatively short space of time. There’s been a huge amount of work going on behind the scenes over the past three months, and it’s been great to see everything coming together. Both Triumph and Renegade have been working closely on the development of the new Street Triple race machines, with a lot of time and effort going into the details. We’re pleased with the progress so far and are looking forward to putting everything into practice when we line up for the 2027 FIM Supersport World Championship.”

Steve Sargent, Chief Product Officer, Triumph Motorcycles commented: “We’re entering an exciting new era in Supersport with the all-new Triumph Street Triple 798 RS machine and also with Mark and the Renegade name. When we first met Mark in the summer his dedication and passion for racing was very clear, as well as his desire to win. We’re looking forward to working with him and building the project together and can’t wait for the team to roll out at the opening round next year.

“We’ve enjoyed success with the past Street Triple and we have to thank Simon and the PTR team for their hard work in developing the bike and getting the results they have over the years. We’re looking forward to expanding our programme and continuing with PTR Racing as a Triumph supported team along with the Compos Racing team. There’s been lots of work done thanks to our Moto2™ project, which Triumph Motorcycles have been the exclusive engine supplier of the World Championship. We’ve covered over 2 million racing kilometres all of which results in important data we’ve then integrated into this new Street Triple, making it a true track-bred machine.”

Ian Kimber, Head of Global Racing Programmes, Triumph Motorcycles added: “Firstly a huge thank you to Simon and the PTR team for what they have achieved over the years as our factory Supersport team and we now look forward to a new chapter with both the all-new Street Triple and the Renegade team, as well as the supported Triumph teams. With more teams, there’ll be a bigger Triumph presence on the grid, which for the racing programme is an important step for us. Mark’s passion and dedication is clear to see and since the agreement he’s been full steam in getting the team together and everything in place. We’re all looking forward to seeing the project continue to grow into the start of the season and can’t wait for the 2027 season to start.”

The all-new Triumph Street Triple 798 RS will be revealed on 17 November 2026 at 12noon GMT. To be the first to hear about the new model, please register your interest.
