WRC Champion Thierry Neuville’s Helmet Achieves World Record at Bonhams|Cars

LONDON, UK – December 5, 2024 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Bonhams|Cars has successfully wrapped up its series of auctions featuring the iconic helmets of WRC driver Thierry Neuville. Fresh off his championship victory at the Japan Rally, Neuville’s final helmet set a new auction world record for a WRC helmet, selling for an impressive £102,000.  

Throughout the season, Bonhams|Cars collaborated with Neuville on his Art Helmet project, showcasing a series of specially designed helmets adorned with unique artistic liveries for each rally competition. Bonhams|Cars presented each helmet for auction during the rally, while being worn by Neuville during the competition.  

Each helmet is a collaboration with talented artists, including Frédéric Platéus, Thandiwe Muriu, Javier Toro Blum, and Tadaomi Kawasaki. Neuville kicked off the season with a strong performance, winning the Monte Carlo Rally, where the helmet designed by Frédéric Platéus sold for £21,760. He continued to achieve impressive finishes at the WRC Safari Rally Kenya and WRC Chile Rally, with the helmet by Thandiwe Muriu selling for £21,760 and the helmet by Javier Toro Blum fetching £15,360, respectively. For the final rally of the year, Neuville donned a helmet designed by Japanese artist Tadaomi Kawasaki, culminating in his clinching of the 2024 WRC championship after a stellar performance throughout the season, highlighted by a decisive victory at the Japan Rally.
