INDIANAPOLIS,, IN – May 25, 2023 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – A staple on the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series circuit, the JEGS NHRA SPORTSnationals returns to National Trail Raceway in Columbus, Ohio on July 12-13, offering the biggest purse in the storied history of the JEGS NHRA SPORTSnationals program.
The event will offer more than $350,000 to the hundreds of racers competing, which includes more than $100,000 in contingency offerings. The massive doubleheader weekend also features a popular Division 3 Regional event on July 14-15, making it one of the biggest weekends for NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series competitors. Combined, the race teams will compete for more than $400,000, as the doubleheader weekend at National Trail Raceway stakes its claim as one of the marquee events of the sportsman season.
In all, more than 600 competitors from all seven NHRA divisions across the country are expected to attend the doubleheader weekend, with nonstop racing action taking place across eight different categories at the JEGS NHRA SPORTSnationals.
“We are honored to continue our partnership with NHRA at one of the premier sportsman events, the JEGS NHRA SPORTSnationals,” JEGS Vice President of Marketing Ralph Mondeaux said. “We look forward to rolling out the figurative red carpet and give back to the sportsman racers who have made our sport what it is today. It is even more special to be able to do this in our backyard of Central Ohio at National Trail Raceway.”
JEGS, an industry-leading DTC, e-commerce retailer and distributor of high-performance automotive aftermarket parts and accessories, will have a strong presence on and off the track, with several Team JEGS racers competing at both the SPORTSnationals and regional event.
The week starts with a special racer appreciation breakfast served by the National Trail Raceway and NHRA staff on hand, leading into a massive weekend of racing action. A JEGS NHRA SPORTSnationals victory has always held significant prestige, with winners receiving a one-of-a-kind copper Wally branded with JEGS.
The 600-plus cars in attendance add to the special doubleheader weekend, making for a must-see weekend of racing action. The regional event will also feature the exciting 270-mph racing from the Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car classes, giving fans four days of racing excitement.
“Hosting the JEGS NHRA SPORTSnationals as part of a huge doubleheader weekend at our facility has always been a big thrill for us and we can’t wait for this year’s event,” National Trail Raceway Owner Jay Livingston said. “National Trail Raceway has enjoyed such a great history with JEGS over the years and we’re very proud to host this unique event that draws such a tremendous turnout of racers. We’ve put in a lot of work to make this a premier facility and it’s exciting to again host another marquee event like this.”
