Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center to Host
World’s Largest Collector Car Auction Company
WALWORTH, WI – August 26, 2021 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Mecum Auctions, the world’s largest collector car auction company, will return to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center in Dallas this Sept. 8-11 with an estimated 1,000 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, trucks, exotics, customs and more set to cross the auction block.
With an annual auction held in Dallas dating back to 2011, Mecum has consistently found the Texas market to be a strong and welcoming one year after year. For 2021, the lineup is proving to be as appealing as ever, with featured lots boasting a heavy concentration of classic American muscle. Highlights include a 3,645-mile 1969 Chevrolet COPO Camaro(Lot S116) with its original Daytona Yellow paint, sheet metal and interior that’s been owned by the same family for 45 years. There is also a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback (Lot S138) showing KK No. 2274 and sporting a 429/375 HP V-8 engine and 4-speed close-ratio manual transmission. The latter pony car received MCA Gold designation in the “1969-1970 Boss Concours Trailered or Driven Class” at MCA Nationals and also MCA Diamond at Boss Nationals in Tulsa.
Also noted among the featured lots is a 1966 RCR Ford GT40 Replica (Lot S126) that is one of six built by RCR for use in the award-winning film “Ford v Ferrari.” Powered by a 5.7L V-8 engine and 6-speed manual transmission, the vehicle was nicknamed the “Dan Gurney Car” since it was the No. 3 car used in the Le Mans race scenes.
The William Scott Collection includes five lots with each boasting a high-quality restoration; the group is highlighted by an MCA Gold Award-winning 1969 Shelby GT350 Fastback (Lot S110) with a matching-numbers 351 CI engine and 4-speed transmission.
