American Motorcyclist Association to field team for 2019 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship

Three riders to represent the United States at international event

PICKERINGTON, OH – June 22, 2019 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – The American Motorcyclist Association announces the three riders who will represent the United States at the 2019 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship, where the best young riders in the world compete July 13-14, at Pietramurata, Arco di Trento, Italy.

“We have three top-tier American riders on the U.S. team, and we are confident they will represent our nation well,” said AMA Motocross Manager Alex Hunter. “We are looking forward to the competition.”

The AMA-supported entry of three riders includes Nicholas Romano of Bayside, N.Y., in the 85cc FIM World Championship Class; Austin Schafer of Hamer, S.C., in the 65cc FIM Junior Motocross World Cup Class; and Chase Yentzer of Carlisle, Pa., in the 125cc FIM Junior Motocross World Championship Class.

Jeff Cernic, owner of Cernic’s Racing and a longtime amateur motocross supporter, will be team manager.

The FIM Junior Motocross World Championship is for competitors between the ages of 11 and 17 years. Countries from around the world select their best young up-and-coming riders to compete in individual classes and team events.

In 2018, the U.S. team finished the event in fourth place overall, despite 125cc Class rider and 2013 65cc Class Champion Aiden Tijero of Ripon, Calif., being unable to participate in the event. Australia took the overall victory, with The Netherlands finishing second and Italy third.
