LAKE ELSINORE, CA – June 11, 2019 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Sara Price scored an impressive podium finish at the 51st SCORE International Baja 500. The California native driver, pulled a 2nd place in the Trophy Truck Spec. Division completing the course in roughly 11 hours and 38 Minutes after a 4 minute speed zone penalty.
The number 204 team lead the race from early on but dealt with a flat tire due to hitting a rock at approximately race mile 72 where their floor jack failed and they were left unable to lift the truck enough to switch the tire. The Price / Sacks duo had no choice but to drive over 12 miles to make it to the next pit in order to get the tire changed.
“Passing for the lead early on, we knew we were in a good position to run a smart race. We had a lot of dust almost all day from the classes that start in front of us. Out of nowhere we felt a big hit knowing we would possibly have a flat not even a minute later we did. We were determined to change it very fast to not give up to much time, while changing the tire we realized our jack would not lift leaving us having to limp the truck to a RPM Racing / Geiser Bros pit and putting us in the back of our class. We recollected and drove a fast and solid race from that point on and was on a mission to pick off competitors in our class to get to the front. We even were doing fuel mileage as we were racing with our team seeing if we could cut out our last pit and we did. With our truck running flawless we were so close to that #1 Spot but finishing second now put us in the series points lead heading into the 400.’’ said Price.
Waypoint Nav School Navigator Erica Sacks did a phenomenal job calling notes on such a technical course. ‘’The Baja 500 was hard fought. In the lead, a jack failure left us limping for a long while into pit 1. Once we got to the pit we put our heads down and made every mile count through the rough-dusty terrain to end up in 2nd. Only 2 more races left in the series, I couldn’t be more motivated to work for that #1 spot.” said Sacks.
Coming into the 500, Price was sitting 2nd in the championship points but after a very successful Baja 500, the 4 Wheel Parts driver is currently leading the Trophy Truck Spec. Class. With 2 more rounds to go, Price is looking to extend her points lead.
The duo went down ahead of the 500 to pre-run aboard Price’s Super ATV Polaris RZR Turbo.
‘’We couldn’t be more happy with Sara and Erica’s performance this year aboard the #204 RPM Racing Trophy Truck Spec. We are looking forward to the next round.’’ Said Justin Matney.
The team scored an historic win in 2017 at the 50th anniversary Baja 1000 with Mexican driver Carlos “Apdaly” Lopez. He also won the SCORE International Trophy Truck championship in 2015 and 2016. The team earned their first Baja 1000 Class 1 victory in 2014.
Price is set to race the full SCORE International season aboard her 4WP/ RPM Racing backed Trophy Truck Spec. Prepped and built by Geiser Brothers, TT Spec. Is A regulated class that showcases driver talent above all else. Class vehicles are equally matched, with rules specifying engine, suspension and wheel and tire size.
Price will also add competition dates to her schedule as opportunities arise. She opened the season at King of the Hammers in the UTV category. Her adventures all season will be extensively documented on her social channels.
