14,388 vehicles affected
ATLANTA, GA – March 5, 2019 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA) is issuing a voluntary recall for 2017 through 2019 model year 718 models in the 50 United States and Puerto Rico.
Internal quality control by Porsche discovered that in a specified frontal crash test, certain requirements of UN Regulation R-94 on occupant protection may not be fulfilled. Specifically, the test found that the lower longitudinal crash beam component could penetrate the bulkhead wall, which could lead to a fuel leakage. No accidents or injuries have been reported as a result of this issue.
Affected vehicles will be recalled to authorized Porsche dealers so that the lower longitudinal member can be fastened with additional rivets. Customers will be notified about the recall by mail. The dealership visit will take about an hour and a half, and is free of charge for customers. There are 14,388 affected vehicles in the United States and Puerto Rico.
