Gooding & Company Leads the Pack with Another Successful Auction in Scottsdale With $48.2 Million Sold

The auction house sold the top three most expensive cars during Arizona Auction week, and posted five of the top ten sales across all other auction houses.

Gooding & Company has once again proven to be an industry leader at Scottsdale in its 12th annual two-day auction by staying consistent in a market that saw competitors with larger inventories perform below their projections.

Other standout cars from the weekend were the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing (sold for $1,435,000), the 1964 Shelby 289 Cobra (sold for $1,050,000), Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster (sold for $1,006,000), and the 1936 Bugatti Type 57 Two-Light Ventoux for a world-record $885,000.

With nine cars selling for over $1 million, President David Gooding and Auctioneer Charlie Ross sold 105 of 124 lots, averaging a price of $459,417 per car sold. There was plenty to gush about as the packed audience expressed all emotions from “ooh’s” and “aah’s” to roaring applause.
