Castellana Secures No.1 Qualifying Position and Races to First Round Win at the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals

Castellana secures Pro Mod pole advances to second round at U.S. Nationals

BROWNSBURG, IN – September 2, 2018 – (Motor Sports Newswire) –  Mike Castellana powered to the No. 1 qualifying position at the E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series portion of the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals and was able to translate that to early success in eliminations. This weekend’s Pro Mod racing, presented by Al-Anabi Performance, is the eighth of 12 events this season.

In qualifying Castellana was able to use his 5.783-second pass at 250.92 mph from Saturday to take the top position.

In the first round of eliminations he defeated Chip King with a run of 6.114 at 193.02 to the trailing run of 7.248 at 135.08.

“We qualified No. 1 and the first round is always tough as there are so many people here that can win,” said Castellana. “We got the first round and now we will take it one round at a time and do whatever we have to do to win.”

He will face Mike Janis in the second round of eliminations. Other match-ups include Steve Jackson, vs. Bob Rahaim, Jose Gonzalez vs. Jeremy Ray, and Troy Coughlin Jr. vs. Khalid AlBalooshi.
