GLENDORA, CA – June 20, 2018 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – NHRA officials announced today that Summit Racing Equipment has renewed its title sponsorship of the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League, a popular racing league for kids ages 5-17.
The NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League celebrated its 25th anniversary during the 2017 season and continues to enjoy impressive growth and participation from youth across many of NHRA’s 120 member tracks throughout the United States and Canada. Competitors in the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League race cars called Jr. Dragsters, which are half-scale versions of Top Fuel dragsters. They go as fast as 85 mph and as quick as 7.90 seconds in the eighth-mile using a five-horsepower, single-cylinder engine, though younger age groups are restricted to slower times and speeds.
“The NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League has played an important part to help ensure the future of drag racing, and the continued growth and interest of young racers in the league has been incredible,” said Brad Gerber, NHRA vice president and chief development officer. “Summit Racing Equipment’s support for the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League has been a pivotal part of that success, and we are excited to see them continue in the role of title sponsor for the league.”
With five decades of experience, Summit Racing Equipment is the worldwide leader in e-commerce, mail order and retailer of performance parts and accessories, offering a selection of parts from more than 1,500 manufacturers. Summit Racing Equipment has also been a standout partner with NHRA and a longtime supporter of the NHRA Jr. Drag Racing League, which has been where many top NHRA professional drivers got their start in racing, helping further the growth of the class.
“Summit Racing Equipment is proud to continue our support of the NHRA Summit Racing Jr. Drag Racing League, the level of competition is incredible and the growth of the program is very rewarding,” said Jim Greenleaf, motorsports & events manager for Summit Racing Equipment. “It has been exciting to see the additional exposure the Jr racers have received while displaying and racing at the NHRA National Events, what an incredible opportunity to race on the Big Stage.”
