DUARTE, CA – February 13, 2018 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Curt LeDuc, Scott Pruett, Mike Skinner, and Jeff Ward have been nominated for the 19th Annual Justice Brothers‐Shav Glick Award. The Justice Brothers‐Shav Glick Award recognizes motorsports personalities who have made valuable or distinguished contributions to the various types of motorsports in California. Shav Glick, who passed away in 2007, was a highly respected motorsports writer for the Los Angeles Times and member of the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America. Ed Justice Jr., President and CEO of Justice Brothers, will present the award during the pre‐race ceremonies for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Auto Club 400 race at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., on Sunday, March 18.
The nominees for 2018 are:
Curt LeDuc – For over 40 years, Curt LeDuc, has been a prominent figure in off-road racing with numerous championships and podiums. LeDuc began his career by building trucks for competitor’s before starting his own racing career in 1975. Dakar, King of The Hammers, Best in the Desert, SCORE International, Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and Short Course off-road racing are just a few of the series and events that he has competed in. LeDuc was inducted into the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2015.
Scott Pruett – Since the start of his career at the age of eight, Scott Pruett, has competed in IMSA, NASCAR, CART, Trans-Am and Grand-Am. A three-time SCCA Trans-Am Champion, a two-time IMSA GTO Champion, a five-time Grand-Am Champion, and a five-time Overall Winner at the Rolex 24 at Daytona are just a few accomplishments that he has had in his career. After 50 years behind the wheel of a race car, Pruett retired from racing in the beginning of 2018. Pruett was inducted into the World Karting Association Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2017.
Mike Skinner – Inaugural NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Champion, Mike Skinner, career began in 1975 competing at dirt tracks across the state of California. Before competing in the NASCAR series as a driver he worked as a crew member for Rusty Wallace and at Petty Enterprises. Skinner is still active in the sport today cohosting Skinner Round-Up on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio and racing in vintage events such as Goodwood Festival of Speed. Skinner was inducted into the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame in 2013.
Jeff Ward – Five-time AMA Motocross Champion, Jeff Ward, started riding mini-bikes at the age of four. Ward’s motocross racing career was highly decorated with two AMA Supercross Championships and seven Motocross des Nations wins. After retiring from motorcycle competition, Ward turned to auto racing. He ended up finishing second in the Indianapolis 500 and taking home a Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship. Ward was inducted into the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2006.
