Triumph secures its first FIM World Championship title
Historic achievement comes just three years after entering motocross

ATLANTA, GA – September 21, 2026 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Triumph Motorcycles is celebrating the first ever World Championship victory in its history, as Guillem Farres has been crowned the 2026 FIM MX2 Motocross World Champion with the Triumph TF 250-X in Darwin, Australia. Teammate Camden McLellan finished an incredible season in second place, ensuring Triumph secured the prestigious FIM MX2 Motocross Manufacturers World Championship title.

Just three years after launching the TF 250-X and entering motocross for the first time, Triumph has secured the MX2 World Championship, Manufacturers’ Championship and Teams’ title, while also claiming a championship 1-2. This historic moment concludes an outstanding year in MX2 with Farres and McLellan winning 11 of 19 Grands Prix.

The Triumph duo achieved 21 moto wins between them and 26 podium finishes, including eight double podiums and four 1-2 finishes aboard the Triumph TF 250-X. As a result, the Triumph Factory Racing team has secured Triumph’s place as FIM MX2 Motocross Manufacturers World Champion for the first time in its history. This is also the first time a British manufacturer has won a world motocross title since 1965.

AN INCREDIBLE SEASON

Having taken a first Grand Prix podium with Mikkel Haarup at the manufacturer’s first FIM MX2 World Championship race in 2024, followed by a first moto win with Camden McLellan in 2025, the Triumph Factory Racing team’s progress in 2026 has been exceptional.

McLellan took Triumph’s first Grand Prix overall win and red plate in Spain at round two of the series in late March, with Farres taking his first Grand Prix as part of Triumph’s first 1-2 podium finish in France at round six in May. Since taking control of the championship after winning Triumph’s home Grand Prix – the MXGP of Great Britain in July – Farres never relinquished the series lead. Across his championship-winning season, the 23-year-old Spanish racer won 14 motos and six rounds including a mid-season run of four consecutive GP wins during the summer. Together with six further overall podium results, Farres ended the season with a 36-point lead over McLellan.

McLellan also impressed throughout the campaign and he led the championship early in the season after winning round two in Spain. As the series progressed, the 22-year-old South African continued to perform and won five Grands Prix in total, including back-to-back wins at the final two rounds in China and Australia.

Besides his victories, McLellan landed on the overall podium eight times to highlight his career-best season in MX2 and he will start 2027 as a title favourite with Farres moving up to the premier MXGP class with the team next year.

Guillem Farres said: ““It’s been an unbelievable weekend here in Australia and it’s been a super good season. We wrapped up the championship in the first race, with Camden taking the win and me finishing second, which was an amazing feeling. Overall, it’s been an incredible season and definitely one I’ll remember for the rest of my life. I enjoy being with the team, we work really hard, and I’m super happy to get this championship as we had a lot of motivation for it.

“It feels good to do this, obviously I had a tough time in America so this is in some way redemption for that. A lot of things go through your mind when you have a hard time, even stepping away from the sport, but we kept going. After I decided to come back to Europe, Vince and Thierry were the first ones to welcome me and they always believed in me. The progress we have made with Triumph has been incredible. I fought to get to the front, to get the results and now we are here. It’s even more special to do it on a Triumph, especially with everything it means to them too and what we’ve all achieved in a short time. I’m super happy and grateful for everyone around me and a big thanks to them, the team and my family. Triumph and the whole team have done an amazing job all year. It hasn’t always been easy, but we’ve made the best of every situation, and I’m really happy and proud of what we’ve achieved together.”

Camden McLellan added: “It’s been a good season. To begin with we had a great off-season, we made some good progress with the bike and the programme. We worked very hard and right from the beginning we were exactly where we needed to be. Unfortunately, a few rounds in I had a little injury, but after the break we came back strong and I was able to get podium after podium, demonstrating a lot of speed and consistency, which I’m super proud of. I unfortunately fell a little bit short of the world championship, but Guillem was the better rider this year, so huge congratulations to him. Overall, I think it’s been a great year. I’m proud of the whole team. They deserve this win and they deserve the championship.

“To get one and two for Triumph in the championship and to win the manufacturers championship shows the amount of work that everyone has put in. It’s been an incredible year for Triumph, so a huge thank you to everyone involved.”

In 2021 Triumph announced its forthcoming entry into the Motocross and Enduro worlds with the single-minded ambition and commitment to develop a championship winning team.
In 2023, Triumph announced its intention to compete in the 2024 MXGP/MX2 and SuperMotocross World Championships and confirmed the appointment of two top class riders to lead its race development testing. Clément Desalle joined as test rider for the Triumph Racing MXGP/MX2 Team, run by Thierry Chizat-Suzzoni, and Ivan Tedesco joined as full-time test rider for the Triumph Racing US SuperMotocross World Championship Team.
In September 2023, Triumph’s new 250cc motocross bike was revealed in public for the first time, at the SuperMotocross World Championship Final at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in California. The MX2 riders Camden McLellan and Mikkel Haarup were announced shortly after.
In January 2024, the Triumph Racing SuperMotocross team line-up was announced with Jalek Swoll and Evan Ferry racing the 250SX East Supercross series, while Joey Savatgy joins them for the Pro Motocross series later in the year.
In February 2024, Triumph Racing competed at its first ever Supercross event in Detroit in the 250SX East category with its new Triumph TF 250-X, while the Monster Energy Triumph Racing competed in Spain as a pre-season warm-up for the MX2 World Championship, followed by a further pre-season race in France.
On March 10 2024 Triumph lined up for its first ever FIM Motocross World Championship event with the Monster Energy Triumph Racing Team in Patagonia, Argentina. Mikkel Haarup made history by taking a podium third for Triumph’s inaugural outing with the TF 250-X, scoring 5-2 results across the two motos including a holeshot award for an incredible start in the second race. His teammate Camden McLellan went 11-6 for an impressive ninth overall.
Jalek Swoll took Triumph’s first Heat Race win with the TF 250-X in Philadelphia at Round Eight of the 2024 AMA Supercross 250SX East Championship on April 27. The Triumph racer went on to demonstrate the bike’s strong capabilities, battling for the podium the majority of the Main Event, although he ultimately crashed out while making the pass for second position in the closing stages of the moto.
25th May 2024 the Triumph Racing team lined-up for the AMA Pro Nationals for the very first time with riders Joey Savatgy and Jalek Swoll.
16th September 2024 Triumph announces Jonny Walker as its first signing to its Enduro programme. Walker will race in the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, as well as select EnduroGP and Hard Enduro events.
13th October 2024 Triumph Racing won the National Sportbike Championship with PTR Triumph Racing’s Richard Cooper and the Triumph Daytona 660. Luke Stapleford took runner-up in the British Supersport Championship for Macadam Triumph Racing aboard the Triumph Street Triple 765-based machine.
Mikkel Haarup and Camden McLellan ended the 2024 with fifth and ninth overall in the MX2 World Championship standings. Both riders concluded the inaugural season with podium finishes and Triumph was proud to have raced at the sharp end of the competition.
In early October 2024, Jonny Walker delivered a spectacular performance at the Enduro of Champions event in Newcastle by taking a win for the Triumph Factory Racing Enduro team aboard the TF 250. At the end of October 2024 Walker took a win at round four of the Endurocross Championship in America. Walker competed in the first four events, achieved a 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 1st before heading back to Europe.
Jalek Swoll took Triumph Racing’s first AMA ProMotocross podium in August 2024 with third overall at round nine of the series at the iconic Unadilla track in New Berlin, New York. Swoll concluded the British manufacturer’s debut season in seventh, Savatgy was 12th.
In December 2024 Jonny Walker took Triumph’s first FIM SuperEnduro World Championship podium in Gliwice, Poland with third place, a feat he repeated at the second round in Riesa, Germany on the 4th January. Walker went on to finish the series in an impressive second position.
For 2025 Triumph Racing lines up for SuperMotocross with a four-rider team. Jalek Swoll, Austin Forkner, Jordon Smith, Stilez Robertson will race for the British manufacturer, who will compete on both coasts of Supercross and the full Pro Motocross series with the TF 250-X. In the FIM MX2 World Championship Camden McLellan will compete for a second year aboard Triumph machinery, while Guillem Farres joins the team. Mikkel Haarup remains as a test rider (due to age restrictions in the MX2 category).
On Saturday 11th January 2025 Jordon Smith took Triumph’s very first AMA Supercross podium at the Angel Stadium in Anaheim (250SX West Championship), after only 10 Supercross races for the British manufacturer.
On Saturday 1st February 2025 Jordon Smith took Triumph’s first AMA Supercross victory in Glendale Arizona at the fourth round of the 250SX West Championship. It was a Triple Crown three-race format, Jordon took a 2-3-1 score to clinch the overall victory, a historic night for the British manufacturer.
In April 2025 Triumph Factory Racing launched its first FIM EnduroGP World Championship team with multi-time World Champion Paul Edmondson heading up the team of Jamie McCanney and Mikael Persson. Triumph entered its first EnduroGP event in Fafe, Portugal on a weekend where the TF 250-E production model was revealed to the public for the first time. Persson took a double podium for the British manufacturer at its EnduroGP debut.
In April 2025 Camden McLellan took Triumph’s first moto win in the FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship at the Arco Di Trento round in Italy.
On June 1st 2025 Triumph Factory Racing made its hard enduro debut at arguably the toughest event at the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo in Eisenerz, Austria, with Jonny Walker. Amongst a two-stroke dominated entry, Walker went on to finish the race in an impressive sixth position aboard an almost-stock and recently launched TF 250-E four-stroke enduro bike.
In August, Triumph made its official debut in the International Six Days Enduro. Triumph Factory Racing rider Mikael Persson put in some strong performances to bring home third in E1, fourth overall along with a first podium in decades for Team Sweden in third. Triumph Italia Racing’s Morgan Lesiardo finished fourth in class, fifth overall and contributed to Italy’s Team World Trophy victory aboard the TF 250-E. Lediardo went on to clinch Triumph’s first Enduro1 race victory and EnduroGP podium at the penultimate round of the EnduroGP championship in September.
Rounding up an incredible inaugural national season of racing, Triumph machinery won the ACU British MX2 Motocross Championship, as well as the ACU British Enduro ACU Championship and British Sprint Championship. Triumph also won the National E1 Enduro Championship in Italy, and finished runner-up in the ADAC MX Masters MX1 series in Germany and the SVEMO National Motocross Championship in Sweden.
Triumph and Jonny Walker won the AMA EnduroCross Championship in November 2025, marking the first indoor enduro series victory for the TF 450-E.
In December 2025 Triumph announced that Triumph Factory Racing will make its highly anticipated entry into the AMA 450SX Supercross Championship with Jordon Smith and Austin Forkner on the TF 450-X in 2026.
In March 2026 Jonny Walker concluded the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship in second position finishing on the podium at all bar one rounds of the championship.
In March 2026 Jordon Smith took the first top 10 finish for Triumph in the 450SX category of AMA Supercross. Smith clinched ninth in Birmingham, Alabama.
In March 2026 Camden McClellan took Triumph’s first FIM MX2 Motocross World Championship Grand Prix Victory in Almonte, Spain. Following a double podium for the team at the opening round of the series, Farres won the first Spanish moto while McLellan clinched the second moto and Triumph’s first overall with the TF 250-X.
In April 2026 Deacon Denno was crowned SMX Next Supercross AMA National Champion aboard the TF 250-X in Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia following his win at the final of five events. Denno concluded the year with the title, as well as three podiums including two victories.
In May 2026, Triumph’s Daytona 660 achieved its first podium in the FIM Sportbike World Championship in Most, Czech Republic with Bruno Ieraci.
