Dana Mecum’s 38th Original Spring Classic Returns to Indianapolis this May 9-17

3,000 Classic and Collector Cars will Cross the Mecum Auction Block at the Indiana State Fairgrounds

WALWORTH, WI – May 8, 2025 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Mecum Auctions will return to the Indiana State Fairgrounds for Dana Mecum’s 38th Original Spring Classic this May 9-17, where an estimated 3,000 vehicles and a selection of daily Road Art® items are expected to cross the auction block throughout the nine-day event. Known for attracting large crowds and impressive sales, the annual Indy auction has surpassed $100 million in total sales for the past four consecutive years. Mecum Indy 2025 is open to registered bidders and the spectating public, and fans can also watch the action live on ESPN+, with coverage running from Wednesday, May 14, through Saturday, May 17, starting at noon Eastern each day.

A diverse lineup of vehicles, from classic American muscle to premier European performance machines, will cross the auction block at this year’s event. Leading the consignments in Indianapolis is Dana Mecum’s personal1965 Ford GT/109 Competition Prototype Roadster(Lot S139), the only GT Roadster ever to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Joining it as featured highlights at Mecum Indy 2025 are a rare1957 Chevrolet El Morocco Convertible (Lot S179), one of just 10 known examples, and a unique, one-of-a-kind 1962 Excalibur RS Roadster (Lot F194).

Also crossing the block in Indianapolis is an impressive lineup of collections. The JK Collectionis the “Professor’s” very own collection of Corvettes, motorcycles and more. Carefully curated by Mecum’s longtime TV commentator and consignment agent, the late John Kraman, the group includes his prized 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe(Lot T131) that he bought new, a 2003 Harley-Davidson FLHTCI(Lot T136) he acquired at Mecum Las Vegas, and a 1964 Pontiac GTO Hardtop (Lot T135) he’d owned since 1976.  The Dave Frecka Collection comprises an impressive showcase of rare European performance, featuring a2021 McLaren Elva Roadster (Lot S151), a 2020 McLaren Sabre(Lot S156) and a 2020 McLaren Speedtail XP3 (Lot S155). From collector  Bobby Knudsen comes a selection of eight Pontiac Catalinas, including two of the ultra-rare 1963 “Swiss Cheese” racing editions, and Dr. Mark Davis  will present five shockingly original, low-mile and highly awarded vintage Corvettes that range from a 1962 model to a 2004.The Apex Collection will once again bring a top-shelf selection ranging from an iconic 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra Roadster (Lot F151) to a jaw-dropping modern performance 2022 Ford GT (Lot F160) finished in Frozen White with exclusive Palette Green dual-painted stripes.

Well-known “Pimp My Ride” TV show personality Ryan Friedlinghaus is bringing a selection of hand-chosen customs from his personal collection, The West Coast Customs Collection, including a 2012 Volkswagen Passat (Lot S35), a 1997 Toyota 4Runner Custom (Lot S39) and a 2018 Polaris Slingshot Custom (Lot S37); all sales from Friedlinghaus’ cars will be donated to the West Coast Customs Academy. Founded by Friedlinghaus and based in LA, the academy is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing and educating individuals on the skills they need to succeed in the custom automotive industry.

Other notable consignments heading for the auction block in Indianapolis include a 1989 Batmobile (Lot S341), which Warner Bros. officially licensed for the Batman exhibition/stunt show at Six Flags Great Adventure. Showcasing American muscle is a rare 1969 Chevrolet Yenko Camaro  (Lot S170)—one of only 201 produced—in iconic Hugger Orange. A showstopping modern performance vehicle joining the Indy lineup is a 2020 Ford GT Carbon Series (Lot S118) with only 233 miles on the odometer, and a 1956 Ford Thunderbird Convertible (Lot F239) is a prime example of the various timeless classics headed for this year’s auction.

This family-friendly event welcomes children 12 years and younger at no charge.
