LONDON, ENGLAND – April 18, 2024 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – RM Sotheby’s is delighted to announce The Sportiva Collection, which will form a highlight of the spectacular Monaco sale to be held over 10-11 May. Offered from a formidable collection, the 14 cars on offer are largely made up of Italian machinery, comprising five Alfa Romeos, five Lancias, one Abarth, one Ferrari, a Pininfarina Spidereuropa, and a Rolls-Royce.
Among the standout rally cars in the collection is a 1985 Lancia Delta S4 Rally that was driven to 2nd place in its competition debut at the 1985 Lombard RAC Rally in Wales. This wonderful rally legend presents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the few Delta S4s with World Rally Championship podium finishes. Later race highlights include Fabrizio Tabaton’s 1st place at the 1986 Halkidiki Rally, in the season that the Italian driver won the European Rally Championship. Offered with substantial workshop invoices spanning 2010 to 2018 and accompanied by its Abarth Classiche certification, this storied Delta S4 Rally has been returned to its period-correct Works configuration complete with iconic Martini livery, and is estimated to sell for between €800,000 – €1,000,000 EUR.
Two other important Lancias with rally DNA also feature in the collection, including a stunning 1975 Lancia Stratos HF Stradale by Bertone. Presented in desirableunrestored condition, it has had just four owners from new and displays fewer than 12,000 kilometres on its odometer. Accompanied by a certification folder issued by Lancia Classiche in 2020, this well-preserved example presents a rare opportunity to acquire an exceptionally original Stratos HF (Estimate: €550,000 – €650,000 EUR).The Stratos is joined by another fascinating Lancia in the form of a 1992 Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione ‘Group N’ by Abarth. Ordered new by Lancia Works medical team doctors, whose signatures appear on the dashboard, this Delta was sent directly from Lancia to Abarth for conversion to Group N specification, receiving uprated suspension and 17-inch wheels. It was certified by Abarth Classiche in November 2016, and features striking Martini 5-style livery over Bianco paint, with a stunning Verde Alcantara interior (Estimate: €150,000 – €200,000 EUR).
The first of Ferrari’s flagship mid-engined supercars, the 1974 Ferrari 365 GT4 BB by Scaglietti is a bona fide Maranello legend. The rarest model of Ferrari’s Berlinetta Boxer family, the 365 GT4 BB was powered by a mid-mounted, 4.4-litre V-12 “Boxer” engine and was rated by the factory for a top speed of 300 km/h. This example is Ferrari Classiche certified and was one of just 44 to leave the factory originally finished in Blu Dino, providing its next owner an unmissable opportunity to refinish the car in a very rare and desirable colour (Estimate: €300,000 – 400,000 EUR).
Alfa Romeos feature prominently in the collection, led by a 2010 Alfa Romeo 8C Spider. With just with owner from new and a mere 6,296 kilometres on the clock, this Grigio Magnesio 8C is a gorgeous example of Alfa Romeo’s iconic supercar. The tastefully specified car features rare five-spoke racing alloy wheels and painted Quadrofoglio emblems on the front wings, and is estimated to sell for between €250,000 – €300,000 EUR. The most modern car in the collection is a 2022 Alfa Romeo Giulia GTAm. A road-legal, track-focused take on the Giulia GTA, the model was the most powerful Alfa Romeo ever produced when launched in 2020. Presented in near factory-fresh condition with just 838 kilometres on the odometer, this evocative super saloon is estimated to sell between €150,000 – €200,000 EUR.
Other Alfa Romeos offered from the collection include a 1969 Alfa Romeo Giulia 1750 GTV, a highly desirable Series 1 example that was restored in 2017 (Estimate: €50,000 – €70,000 EUR). Also on offer is a 1967 Alfa Romeo GT 1300 Junior, in desirable “step-nose” specification (Estimate: €40,000 – €50,000 EUR), and a 1957 Alfa Romeo Giulietta T.I. Berlina by Bertone (Estimate: €30,000 – €40,000 EUR).
Also of note is a brace of landmark Lancia road cars. The first is a 1958 Lancia Aurelia B20 Coupé Series VI by Pinin Farina. Exhibited at the 1958 Salone dell’automobile di Torino, this fine coupé is presented in its factory-correct colour scheme of Nero over a Panno beige interior and retains its matching-numbers engine and front axle (Estimate: €80,000 – €120,000 EUR). The second is an equally beautiful 1969 Lancia Fulvia Coupé Rallye 1.6 HF ‘Fanalone’. Delivered new to the province of Cosenza, Italy, it is offered with its ASI documentation (Estimate: €50,000 – €70,000 EUR).
Rounding off this exceptional collection is a 2016 Abarth 695 Assetto Corse Evoluzione. Purchased new by the consignor for the 2016 Trofeo Abarth racing series but never used, this exciting hot hatch presents a rare opportunity to acquire a fully race-prepared Abarth 695 Assetto Corse Evoluzione (Estimate: €40,000 – €50,000 EUR). Also offered from the collection is a 1983 Pininfarina Spidereuropa(Estimate: €20,000 – €30,000 EUR) and the only non-Italian car to feature in the collection, a handsome 1933 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Saloon by Hooper (Estimate: €20,000 – €40,000 EUR).
