The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ sold for over $5 million
SCOTTSDALE, AZ- January 29, 2024 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Bonhams|Cars presented a successful showcase of automotive excellence at The Scottsdale Auction in Arizona and achieved the top sale of the week for the 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, selling for $5,175,000. The auction, running concurrently with Arizona Car Week, drew car enthusiasts in large numbers. Over the preview days, the Bonhams|Cars pavilion was bustling with activity. When auction day arrived, the excitement reached its peak as over a thousand spectators filled the room. The auction featured an impressive collection of 84 lots, achieving a total of $12 million in sales with 80% of the lots successfully sold.

Among the offerings, the highlight was the 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+, a marvel of modern engineering. Known as the world’s fastest road-going car for its record-breaking speed of over 300mph, this hypercar is not only a testament to speed but also to exclusivity, being one of just 30 produced. Its sale marked the first public offering of a Super Sport 300+ in America since its production, and it achieved an impressive $5,175,000.
Matching the modern marvel of the Chiron Super Sport 300+ was its historical counterpart, the 1936 Bugatti Type 57 Atalante Sunroof Coupe. This car, a gem from the 1930s and a participant in the 1938 Rallye des Alpes, is one of only four existing models with a factory-built sunroof. Its rich history and unique features drew considerable attention, culminating in a sale price of $1,380,000.

1966 Aston Martin DB6 Sports Saloon, sold for $268,800.
Highlights of the sale included:
- 1970 Maserati Ghibli 4.7 Spider, sold for $596,250. This special car, one of only 82 4.7-liter Ghibli Spiders produced, boasts a matching-numbers engine and is beautifully presented in a light metallic blue with black Connolly leather interiors.
- 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS, sold for $431,250. The new custodian takes on this highly desirable example which has been maintained with no expense spared.
- 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Sports Saloon, sold for $268,800. Offered without reserve, the car surpassed its high estimate due to keen bidder interest, highlighting the enduring appeal of the “DB” series, especially given this model’s original, numbers-matching chassis and engine.
