Kenda, STACYC and Iron Pony partner to bring
first-of-its-kind kids moto playground
PICKERINGTON, OH – July 7, 2021 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Kenda Tire has been announced as the Official Tire of the 2021 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, which takes place July 23-25 at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
“We’re pumped to be back at Vintage Motorcycle Days after last year’s hiatus,” said Dave Komoroski of Kenda Powersports. “It’s become a real family reunion for us. Kenda engineering, marketing and logistics are all based here in Ohio, and we’re all bringing bikes to VMD.”
“Most of us started working in the motorcycle industry because we love bikes,” Komoroski continued, “and VMD allows us to leave our desks for a few days and get a reminder of why we work hard. There’s so much motorcycle passion on display, and we’re bringing just as much.”
Kenda staff members will ride and race throughout the weekend, too.
“My boss took first in the Modern 2-Stroke MX class a few years back,” Komoroski said, “and I think he’s coming to get another gold this year. We’ll have Kenda folks running races all through the VMD weekend. Keep an eye out for the jerseys!”
This year, Kenda has partnered with STACYC balance bikes and Iron Pony to offer a unique opportunity for young riders.
“STACYC will have a demo course set up for younger kids who are new to two wheels,” Komoroski said, “and Kenda will be running a more advanced, bring-your-own-bike time trials for kids, all on a sweet little serpentine track. We’ll crown the champions on Sunday.”
“We’re excited to welcome Kenda Tire back to AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days this year,” said AMA Editorial Director Mitch Boehm. “We love their enthusiasm for the event, and with all the kids that show up at AMA VMD each year, the Kenda Kids area is sure to be a huge hit.”
The 2021 AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days will feature an On Any Sunday theme, celebrating 50 years of Bruce Brown’s epic moto documentary, with David Aldana — one of the film’s legendary stars — serving as Grand Marshal. There will also be a special outdoor screening of the beloved film on Friday, July 23.
Racers and fans will appreciate all the racing action, from road racing and motocross to cross-country, dirt track and trials — and much of it with an AMA Grand Championship flavor. Riders as young as age 4 are permitted to compete in motocross, while those 12 and up can ride in trials, dirt track and hare-scrambles events. There’s also exhibition pit-bike racing on Saturday. Learn more and register today.
The event will also include all the vintage-oriented happenings that classic-bike fans love, including Hall of Fame activities, vintage bike shows and the legendary swap meet. Tickets are still available at midohio.com or can be purchased at the gate on the days of the event for an additional $10.
