First-Time Auction Finds Success in the Sooner State

WALWORTH, WI – June 17, 2021 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Highly anticipated by customers and fans from the Midwest region, Mecum’s inaugural Tulsa collector car auction attracted crowds of enthusiasts to gather in attendance at River Spirit Expo at Expo Square in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for the June 11-12 occasion. The auction ultimately continued the company’s streak of highly successful events and exceeded expectations with total overall sales cruising past $21.2 million. Of the 660 cars to cross the auction block in Tulsa, 539 hammered sold for an impressive sell-through rate of nearly 82%.

A trio of Ford GTs led the top 10 sales in Tulsa, with a 2006 GT (Lot S115.1) sporting all four options and just 7,000 miles on the odometer taking its place at the very top of the list, commanding a $330,000 sale price. The 2005 Ford GT (Lot S105) from The Elkin Brothers Collection claimed the No. 2 sales position with a $302,500 sale, and a 2006 Ford GT (Lot S130.1) refreshed in Gulf Blue and Orange Heritage livery finished in third with a $280,500 sale.

Other top sales included a varied mix of sports, muscle and utility vehicles, with a 1957 Ford Thunderbird F-Code (Lot S141) claiming the fourth spot at $203,500 and a 1970 Mustang Mach 1 Twister Special Fastback (Lot S124.1) coming in sixth at $165,000. Two Corvettes—a 1963 split window coupe (Lot S168) and a 1961 convertible (Lots S197)—sold for $176,000 and $159,500, respectively, taking the fifth and seventh spots in top sales.

In addition to its top-selling GT, The Elkin Brothers Collection proved to be a hot ticket in Tulsa overall, with all 14 vehicles in the group hammering sold for a total of more than $1.17 million.
