Safety and Health Protocols Remain a Priority
Following Record-Setting Success in Indianapolis
WALWORTH, WI – August 4, 2020 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – With health and safety protocols that exceed national standards and enhanced bidding options available in-person, online and via telephone, Mecum’s Kissimmee Summer Special collector car auction will kick off at the Osceola Heritage Park grounds in Kissimmee, Florida, this Aug. 27-29 featuring an estimated 1,000 vehicles.

The auction lineup will be highlighted by the renowned 14-car collection of auto enthusiast Marty Nelson, featuring standouts like a restored 4-speed 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS Z28(Lot S95) and a Nassau Blue 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (Lot S96) with Hurst shifter. The varied collection includes an array of high-quality classics, from three vintage, split-bumper Camaro Z28s (Lots S93, S93.1 and S94) and a 1969 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible (Lot S92) to a 1938 LaSalle Coupe Street Rod (Lot S100) and a 1958 Ford Fairlane 500 Skyliner (Lot S91), and all of it is set to cross the auction block on Saturday, Aug. 29.

Another highlight of the Summer Special lineup is a 1969 Dodge Daytona (Lot S108) wearing an arresting coat of B5 Blue Fire Metallic paint over a matching blue bucket-seat interior. The boldly styled aero-warrior exists as one of just 503 Daytonas built in 1969, and beneath the hood it hides a 440 CI V-8 engine mated to the car’s TorqueFlite automatic transmission. The auction will also feature a wide variety of other muscle cars and Corvettes—such as a 1970 Shelby GT500 Fastback (Lot S127) and a 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe (Lot S72), to name a few.

Following the positive response to the safety standards employed at the recent Mecum auction in Indianapolis, where record sales were set, the Kissimmee Summer Special will utilize similar procedures, including mandatory daily temperature checks for all staff, vendors and attendees, required facemasks, plentiful hand sanitizing stations and a layout that encourages social distancing throughout the event and among the auction seating to ensure customer safety and comfort. The venue’s massive 200-acre grounds will allow ample space for both the vehicles and those in attendance to spread out safely.

The auction is open to the public for participation, and vehicle consignments are still being accepted. Advanced bidder registration is highly encouraged and is available online for $200, which includes admission for two on each auction day. Those unable to attend and bid in-person are encouraged to register for internet and/or telephone bidding, which allow for convenient bidding from the comfort of home. Doors open each day at 8 a.m. with the vehicle auction beginning daily at 10 a.m. Portions of the auction will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network.
Mecum’s website is updated daily with the latest consignments including detailed descriptions and photographs of the vehicles. To view the list, to consign a vehicle or to register as a bidder for this and all Mecum auctions, visit Mecum.com, or call (262) 275-5050 for more information.
