Jace Owen Crowned Double Champion in Kicker Arenacross

Phoenix Racing Honda dominates series aboard CRF250R

SALT LAKE CITY, UT – February 26, 2019 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Phoenix Racing Honda rider Jace Owen wrapped up an incredible Pro Series season in Kicker Arenacross this weekend by riding his Honda CRF250R to victory in three of four races at Salt Lake City’s Maverik Center. The Illinois native had missed almost all of last year with knee injuries, but he was close to unstoppable this season in the Pro Series portion of Kicker Arenacross, going undefeated in 250 Pro and topping every Open Pro race except for the final.

The David Eller-owned team’s domination of Kicker Arenacross didn’t end with Owen, as his Phoenix Racing Honda teammates, Isaac Teasdale and Fredrik Noren, generally shared the podiums with him and ended the Pro Series second and third overall in both Pro classes, respectively.

Owen and his teammates will now turn their attention to the remaining rounds of the AMA Supercross 250SX East Region series. In addition, Phoenix Racing Honda is preparing to kick off the 2019 AMA ATV Motocross series, and to make its debut in the Grand National Cross Country series (GNCC).

“The series has been incredible this year, and it’s great to get both championships,” Owen said. “Even though I missed almost all of last season, David was really good about letting me know that I was going to have a place to go racing. I knew what I was capable of, but Arenacross racing is so close that it’s tough. Fortunately, I was able to consistently put myself in good situations and stay mistake-free. This has been a big confidence booster, and heading into supercross, I think I’m going to be super-prepared, even though I’m missing the first three rounds.”

“It was just a solid series—a good start to the year—and all the guys performed really well,” added Shawn Ulikowski, Phoenix Racing Honda Team Manager. “During the course of the season, we made a lot of changes within the team and adjustments on the bike, in order to get the guys prepared for supercross. We had a really good showing, and I think this will serve as a great stepping stone moving forward with supercross.”

“This is a great start to our relationship with Phoenix Racing,” said Brandon Wilson, Manager of Advertising & Motorcycle Sports at American Honda. “We expected a positive Arenacross series from them, but this level of domination was particularly impressive. Congratulations to Jace and the team.”
