Riders to be honored at AMA Championship Banquet in December
PICKERINGTON, OH – July 26, 2018 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – The American Motorcyclist Association congratulates Sebastian Palmese and Travis Horn on being named AMA National Champions at the 2018 AMA Speedway Youth Championship.
The event, which took place July 13 at the Gold County Fairgrounds in Auburn, Calif., pitted the best young speedway racing talent in the nation against each other in two competition classes. All participants were 16 or younger.
For Palmese, 14, of Mission Viejo, Calif., it was his third time claiming the 250cc Youth National Speedway Championship. The competition for the class title was close as Palmese beat runner-up Landon Norton by a single point.
For Horn, 10, of La Verne, Calif., it was his first time winning the 150cc Youth National Speedway Championship. He finished third in the 2017 150cc championship.
“The AMA congratulates Sebastian, Travis, and all of the young speedway racers who competed in the 2018 AMA Speedway Youth National Championship,” AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant said. “These young competitors put on a great show and I am sure we will be seeing some of them as top Division 1 competitors in the future.”
Palmese and Horn will receive their AMA No. 1 plates at the AMA Championship Banquet, part of the AMA Legends & Champions Weekend, Dec. 7-9, at the Hilton Columbus/Polaris in Columbus, Ohio.
AMA Legends & Champions Weekend honors history’s motorcycling legends and today’s amateur champions. It also includes the annual AMA Congress, where AMA Competition Commission members debate and vote on the rules governing amateur motorcycle racing in the United States.
