UNCASVILLE, CT – May 23, 2018 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Some of the best classic American muscle cars will flex their muscles during the 3rd Annual Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction, June 20-23, 2018, at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. Among the most anticipated models of this year’s Barrett-Jackson Northeast auction include a professionally restored ’70 Chevelle SS454 LS6 (Lot #670) and ’70 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird (preview).
“American muscle cars of the 1960s and ’70s have been a strong niche in the collector car market for several years,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “In the ’90s, we diversified our docket from the traditional prewar classics to appeal to younger generations. Unsurprisingly, American muscle cars exploded on the scene and became some of the most highly sought-after vehicles. More than 20 years later, they continue to be among the most desired collector cars on the market for collectors, young and old, which we’ll see again with some great muscle cars at this year’s Northeast Auction.”
Two professionally restored and highly coveted American muscle cars crossing the block include a ’70 Chevelle SS454 LS6 (Lot #670), which scored a perfect 1,000 at the Eckler’s Chevy Classics Club Winter National in 2013. With over 3,300 man-hours of restoration work invested, this award-winning Chevelle is powered by a 454ci engine mated to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. With only 3,500 miles since its professional restoration, a ’70 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird (preview) is a rare find that features a date-code-correct V-Code 440ci engine mated to its original transmission.
“This is a great time to be a classic American muscle car collector,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “The craftsmanship and technology that are going in to the restoration of many of these vehicles is simply unbelievable. We have some of the best examples of professionally restored classic muscle cars, along with well-preserved models that are simply amazing. If you’re looking to add an incredible piece of Americana to your collection, you need to be at our Northeast Auction.”
The Barrett-Jackson Northeast docket will also include these impressive classic American muscle cars:
- ’69 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 RS (preview) – One of 26 1969 Z/28s to receive the Legend Award from ACA
- ’67 Shelby GT500 (Lot #712) – Powered by its original V8 engine, it is one of 2,048 fastbacks produced in ’67
