ESSEN, GERMANY – March 21, 2018 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – RM Sotheby’s is delighted to announce the addition of a new sale date in its ever-expanding European auction calendar. Around 150 diverse automobile and motorcycle lots will be offered in Essen, Germany, when the single-day auction takes place on 11 April 2019. The new RM Sotheby’s sale will form part of the 31st Techno-Classica Essen show in 2019 (10-14 April).
The addition of the Essen sale to RM Sotheby’s established Paris, Monaco, Villa Erba, and London events addresses a sustained level of interest in high-value automobile sales in Europe – also contributing towards a growing presence for RM Sotheby’s among car collectors in the region. The collector car market in Germany is recognized by RM Sotheby’s as especially strong.

Techno-Classica Essen is a long-running fair for classic car fans in Essen, Germany, and is recognized as the first great German car salon for vintage cars and collector vehicles. The most recent edition of the show was attended by more than 1,250 exhibitors from more than 30 nations over 20 exhibition halls, attracting approximately 185,000 visitors to the Messe Essen exhibition center. More than 200 classic car clubs attended the 2017 installation of Techno-Classica Essen, bringing hundreds of classic cars to view, in addition to the 20 automobile manufacturers onsite.
RM Sotheby’s will have a presence at the 2018 Techno-Classica Essen, due to take place between 21-25 March, with market experts available to speak to on the show stand. This year in Essen, ahead of the forthcoming Monaco auction – set for 12 May at Grimaldi Forum, Monte Carlo – RM Sotheby’s will display a 1992 Benetton B192 Formula 1 race car before it crosses the podium this spring. The F1 cawill be on the Techno-Classica Essen show stand, joined by other cars for private sale.
