Only vehicle on air suspension earns multiple first place finishes
LANSING, MI – May 6, 2016 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Air Lift Performance Time Attack Champion Cody Miles does it on air and wins – time after time. The only time attack driver on air suspension, Miles is now gearing up to compete in the Global Time Attack, taking place at Road Atlanta at Drift Atlanta on May 6.
Air Lift Performance is proud to sponsor Miles, who is the 2015 Redline Time Attack Street Class champion and finished first in the first round of the 2016 Redline Time Attack series. Miles, who runs on an Air Lift Performance 3H system, relies on Air Lift Performance not only as a sponsor, but as an integral part of his team.
“When I first got the kit, I wasn’t sponsored by anyone and had no connections or ties to anyone that could sway me in any direction toward a specific brand,” he said. “I feel like that’s important to point out, because I chose Air Lift Performance, they didn’t choose me. I’m extremely happy with the Air Lift Performance suspension system, and have no intentions of using anything different.”
It all started when Miles first began modifying his 2007 Subaru STi in 2014. He was searching for suspension parts online when he found an Air Lift Performance video that showed cars being driven aggressively on air suspension. He was hooked on the idea of being able to do it all with one suspension system (track it and daily drive it), but he wasn’t convinced bags would be up to the task of what he had in mind for the car. A few clicks later and Miles came upon another video – this one showed Air Lift Performance directly comparing its product to coilovers on track with hard data to stand by its claims.
“Anyone can sell a product with aggressive claims that simply tell the consumer what they want to hear,” Miles said. “But going through the effort of real-world testing to allow the results to speak for themselves is what really pulled me toward giving air suspension a shot.”
Little did he realize, those videos would launch a solid professional partnership.
After examining the Air Lift Performance data, Miles ordered the complete V2 system, which was later upgraded to an Air Lift Performance 3H system. When it arrived, he found the installation instructions clear with every component included and clearly referenced. When he required advice on specific details, he called Air Lift Performance.
“Everyone was always happy to help out and assure that I was on the right track,” he said. When he wanted expert advice on details, he spoke directly with the Air Lift Performance engineering team, whose members shared Miles’ passion for performance and speed. The team not only helped Miles work through the specifics of his system, they assisted Miles’ pit crew and advised on just about every aspect of his car.
Once the system was installed and Miles began to understand the immediate improvements in his car’s performance, he got serious about tracking.
“My bumpers were planted on the ground when I wanted to turn heads, safely above aggressive driveways when I wanted to keep my oil pan in one piece, and sailing over rumble strips at 100 mph when I wanted to set lap times,” he said. “My car truly gained the ability to be anything I wanted it to, based on whatever the pavement ahead of me had in store.”
In March 2015, Miles took his Subaru to his first Redline Time Attack. Among a group of more than 100 drivers, his was the only car on air suspension. He grabbed a first place finish in his class that day, and won several more races throughout the year resulting in an overall championship in the Street Class for the 2015 season of Redline Time Attack – the first time that series has been taken by a car on air suspension.
Miles is looking forward to continuing his partnership with Air Lift Performance during the Global Time Attack series in 2016.
“The constant drive to push the envelope and create a product that no one else can is something that sets the engineering team at Air Lift Performance above the rest.” he said. “I couldn’t ask for a better team to be working with.”
