LONDON, UK – June 17, 2024 – (Motor Sports NewsWire) – Bonhams|Cars Online will be hosting an exclusive online auction featuring over 40 examples from Rolls-Royce and Bentley. Taking place in congruence with the Rolls-Royce Enthusiasts Club Annual Rally weekend held 21-23 June, the online auction will be open for bidding from 18 – 28 June. The Annual Rally & Concours d’Elegance is the RREC’s flagship event, widely considered as the largest gathering of Rolls-Royce and Bentley motor cars in the world. It takes place each summer and this year it will be held at the sensational Burghley House in Stamford.

A highlight of the auction is the 1922 Rolls-Royce Alpine Eagle Silver Ghost, estimated to fetch £1 million. This unique car is the only ever factory-produced Ghost built, with a 3000 rpm Alpine Eagle engine capable of over 80 mph. Built as a high-speed ‘special’ with silver-plated fittings and light-weight aero body by A F McNeil at Cunard, it was commissioned by Captain Broomhall on 27th January 1920 to challenge Bentley and Hispano-Suiza for outright speed. Approved by Henry Royce himself, with R W Harvey (Chief Technical Production Engineer at Rolls-Royce) leading the special low-drag/lightweight design of the car. Presented in full working order, the car said to start “on the button”. This offering presents an unrepeatable opportunity to purchase a true one-of-one.
