PICKERINGTON, OH – June 8, 2019 – (Motor Sports Newswire) –  Recreational riding will receive renewed emphasis when 2019 AMA Congress convenes Dec. 6-7 at the Hilton Columbus Downtown in Columbus, Ohio, as part of AMA Legends & Champions Weekend.

Participants will discuss advocacy, volunteering and riding activities.

AMA State Chapters and Volunteer Manager Marie Wuelleh said delegates also will receive training that will equip them to offer the AMA EAGLES “expertise” curriculum and lead volunteer educational programs as part of the AMA Train the Trainer program.

There also will be a meeting of AMA State Chapter coordinators at AMA Congress. AMA State Chapter coordinators organize chapter activities in states with an active AMA State Chapter.

AMA members interested in becoming involved with AMA State Chapters should visit www.americanmotorcyclist.com/AMA-State-Chapters or contact Wuelleh at [email protected].

AMA Recreational Riding representatives also will meet during AMA Congress to create and modify rules and guidelines related to road riding, recreational off road, dual-sport and adventure riding events.

AMA Recreational Riding Manager Heather Wilson will take the lead in planning and organizing various recreational riding seminars, meetings and forums at the event.

“Our AMA-chartered organizers are passionate and experienced motorcyclists who are eager to grow and modernize organized motorcycle activity in America,” Wilson said. “Through their work, we will continue to provide guidelines and resources to AMA-chartered clubs and promoters.”

AMA organizers who host recreational riding events and wish to become more involved should contact Wilson at [email protected].

“Our members and AMA-chartered organizers are integral in assisting us with growing our membership to further the AMA mission of promoting the motorcycle lifestyle and protecting the future of motorcycling,” Wilson said. “AMA Congress is a place where these individuals can discuss opportunities and best practices for events and learn from one another.”

AMA Congress convenes Friday, Dec. 6, at the Hilton Columbus Downtown, 401 N. High St., Columbus, Ohio. In addition to the recreational riding portion, AMA Congress provides a forum for AMA Competition Commissions to propose and debate rules governing AMA-sanctioned competition events.

AMA Legends & Champions Weekend, which continues that evening at the Hilton with the 2019 AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, welcomes the Class of 2019 into the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame.

The Class of 2019, to be announced this summer, will be chosen from individuals who have excelled in motorcycle design, advocacy, engineering and business, as well as those who have made lasting contributions to road riding, off-road riding and all categories of motorcycle racing.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame in Pickerington, Ohio, will host a gathering for the installation of the Class of 2019 exhibit, which includes Hall of Fame nameplates and representative motorcycles or memorabilia for the new inductees.

Also on Saturday, Dec. 7, AMA Congress will conclude with its annual General Session.
