Array of Communication and Protective Products
Come to Marketplace
COLUMBUS, OH – September 22, 2017 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Day 2 of the American International Motorcycle Expo presented by Nationwide (AIMExpo) saw gear and accessories grab the spotlight inside the Greater Columbus Convention Center on Friday as a diverse array of products from the 500 exhibitors continued to be introduced to trade attendees.
Innovation is at the heart of AIMExpo and a new company emerged at this year’s event. STACYC Stability Cycle has taken an innovative approach to getting kids into riding, introducing an electric-powered 2-wheel balance bike. With a name derived from the term stability cycle, the design of the bike is centered around a low seat height and the ability for riders to easily plant their feet on the ground, allowing for a stable and non-intimidating experience.
STACYC offers two versions of its bike, accommodating different heights and comfort levels. The electric power comes from an easily installable and removable lithium ion battery that comes in two sizes.
Kirsh Helmets is bringing a new approach to protecting riders’ heads, and introduced what the company calls the toughest, smallest DOT approved helmet in the world. The low profile, lightweight CHM-1 is the first in a series of helmets that brings unique technology to the hugely popular half-shell design.
The enhanced protection of the helmet comes from a patented fluid displacement liner that is more efficient at handling kinetic energy generated in accidents. The liner is cooling thanks to propylene glycol that fills it, and also conforms uniquely to each individual rider’s head.
SHOEI also took advantage of the opportunity to introduce a new helmet at AIMExpo, unveiling the VFX-EVO that caters to the motocross segment. The centerpiece of the VFX-EVO is a proprietary, SHOEI-exclusive Motion Energy Distribution System, known as M.E.D.S., which is a dual-layer, multi-density EPS liner specially engineered to reduce rotational acceleration energy in an accident.
The helmet also features a larger field of vision, EPS liner material in the chin bar padding, a 3D max-dry interior system for quicker sweat absorption, and an Emergency Quick Release System (E.Q.R.S.) for easy and safe removal in the event of an accident.
Sidi introduced two new boots to its wide-ranging lineup. The Performer boot is Sidi’s newest entry level option for the budget-minded rider. It features the same high-end material and hand-made build quality as every Sidi boot, but with a more straightforward feature set anchored by Technomicro base material, protective achilles and calf panels, ankle caps, and a nylon shin deflector plate.
The Duna is a soft, low-cut ankle-high boot that is constructed in line with the storied Sidi tradition. The casual look of the boot makes it ideal for short rides and wearing around town without sacrificing protection.
Both the Performer and Duna also come in fully weatherproof Gore-Tex versions.
Simpson has been a renowned name in the motorcycle and racing industries for decades, and the retro styling of its helmets has helped maintain that popularity, particularly amongst the custom and v-twin audience.
The Glory edition of the newest version of the Ghost Bandit is about as patriotic as a helmet comes, with the stars and stripes, red, white, and blue of the American flag adorning the shell, which is aerodynamically tuned for motorcycle riding. It also boasts integrated speaker and microphone pockets for easily installation of any mobile communication device.
French motorcycle clothing brand Furygan might be a relative unknown in the U.S., but its high quality and fashionable products have made it a household name in Europe, particularly since top-level racers like MotoGP young gun Johann Zarco and World Superbike veteran Sylvain Barrier are wearing the leathers.
The Coburn is a stylish leather jacket that pays tribute to the legendary Furygan GTO, emblematic of the iconic 70’s styling. It features padding in the shoulders, which also has a unique design, and a striking red liner.
