Stand-Out Trans AM Series Driver Ernie Francis Jr. Wins at Road Atlanta with Katech Power Plant

CLINTON TWP., MI – May 15, 2017 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Katech, Inc. sponsored-driver Ernie Francis Jr. captured his latest win in the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli on May 13 at Road Atlanta. During Round 3 of the 2017 Trans Am Championship, Francis Jr. achieved his second consecutive win in the TA class in his No. 98 Breathless Pro Racing/Buoniconti Fund/Beta Tools Ford Mustang powered by a Katech engine, which he says is getting faster with every race.

Katech, a leading developer of advanced racing and street performance engines, built the required 358 cubic inch, carbureted, overhead valve, naturally aspirated, V-8 engine for Francis’ Mustang. The engine produces well over 790 horsepower. Katech is also providing technical support for the 19-year-old driver, who recently recorded his first TA class win at Homestead-Miami in April at the season’s second outing. The event in Atlanta was his third overall in the TA class driving the No. 98.  Not short on experience, Francis Jr. is a former three-time TA4 class champ.

“Katech is very excited to work with such a promising young talent,” said Kevin Pranger, Director of Motorsports, Katech.

“Our Katech engine ran flawless the entire weekend. She kept us on the top all the way to the end, finishing in first”, said Ernie Francis Jr.  “We were ecstatic to have our Katech representative on hand with us at the track. And we are proud that Katech is in charge of our engine program for our No. 98 TA race car. With their help, every race puts us closer to a fourth championship in Trans Am.”
