WEEDSPORT, NY – September 2, 2016 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Cornwall Motor Speedway in Cornwall, Ont. is the site of round number three for the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series and round number four of the DIRTcar Sportsman Series this Sunday, Sept. 4th. The event begins a busy month of September for the Northeast’s premier 358 Modified and Sportsman tours as five series events greet the 358 Modified teams and eight series events greet the sportsman teams over the next four weekends.
Erick Rudolph is currently the man to beat as he has won both 358 Modified Series wins this season at Merrittville and Ransomville. Rudolph leads the way in the point standings with 300 points. Danny Johnson sits second in the standings with 280 points followed by Pete Bicknell with 235 points.
On the strength of a Fulton Series win in April and top ten finishes in all three shows to date, Brad Rouse currently leads the way in the point standings with 252 points. Shane Pecore currently sits second with 245 points in the standings followed by Alex LaJoie in third with 186 points.
With valuable series points on the line a strong contingent of Sportsman teams are expected to enter the 50-lap event. Additionally, each DIRTcar Sportsman series events serve as a qualifier for the first ever World Short Track Championship to be held in Charlotte, N.C., Oct. 20-22. Series feature event winners along with the top-12 in series points earn automatic entries into the All-Star Invitational held that weekend.
