CORONA, CA – August 22, 2016 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – The Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Team entered Budds Creek prepared for the day’s battle. In the first moto, Adam Cianciarulo grabbed the holeshot and joined teammate Joey Savatgy on the podium. In the second moto, Adam grabbed the holeshot again and battled teammate Austin Forkner for the top spot. At the end of the day, Austin took overall 3rd and found himself on the podium once again this season.
Austin Returns to the Podium
Each week, the rookie Austin Forkner proves that he is a force to be reckoned with on the track. Throughout the season, he has demonstrated true skill and speed at each round of the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. In the first moto, he rode among the leaders and finished in 5th. Unsatisfied with his previous results, he pushed himself in the second moto. Guiding the pack for most of the race, he crossed the checkers in 2nd and finished 3rd overall for the day.
“I started up front with my teammates. Just paced them for the first half of the race before they began to pull away from me. I knew I had a decent gap behind me so I decided to relax and save some energy for the second moto, because it was so hot. I started in third once again behind my teammates, but made sure to charge right away and get by them as soon as I could.”
Season Best for Adam
Demonstrating how far he has come this season, Adam Cianciarulo took this past weekend as an opportunity to show off his progress. In Moto 1, he was able to grab the holeshot and take the lead. He finished 2nd and found himself on the podium for the first time this season. Continuing the momentum from the previous moto, he gave it his all in the second race. Easily capturing the holeshot, he battled for the lead and finished 5th in Moto 2 and 4th overall for the day.
“Today was definitely a step in the right direction. Got two great starts today, which led to my best moto finish of the year – with a second place finish in the first moto. It felt great to finally break through and get up on the podium again.”
Another Podium for Joey
With a solid performance during the morning’s qualifying, Joey Savatgy entered Moto 1 more than ready. He fought his way to the front of the line and battled for No.1 in the first race. Alongside his teammate Adam, he pushed himself to finish on the podium. Crossing the checkers in 3rd,, he brought his Kawasaki to the podium once again. Leaving Maryland, he placed 9th overall and looks forward to wrapping up the season next week.
“I got a great start in Moto 1 and felt like I could fight for the win, but a few little mistakes kept me from achieving that. Another awesome start in Moto 2 had me right up there with my teammates in the early stages of the race. It was really hot today and I think we all got tired out there. I’m happy with my first moto performance and I am looking forward to the final round next week.”
Back to Work for Chris
Chris Alldredge made his return to racing in Maryland. Eager to get back into the trenches, he wasted no time during Saturday’s motos. He stayed smooth and consistent throughout the day and finished in an overall 10th.
“After being off the bike for 16 weeks, I think a top-10 finish overall isn’t too bad. I have a long way to go before I’m back at race pace, but I believe we started off on the right foot today.”
Arnaud Stays Consistent
Throughout the past few weeks, Arnaud Tonus has continued to show progress. He has been consistently riding among the leaders. Keeping his eyes on the front of the pack, he battled his way towards the top. Finishing his day in 11th overall, he looks to return the podium one more time before the series concludes.
“My starts were on point all day today. I ran upfront in both motos and made great passes. I feel I’ve been improving all season.”
