CORONA, CA – June 20, 2016 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Round 4 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship brought the Monster Energy/ Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki Team to High Point Raceway. Having one week off between races, the team used the extra practice time to their advantage. They arrived to a track with less than ideal conditions but made the best of it and were quick to adapt as the track continued to dry out throughout the day. It was rider Joey Savatgy who once again brought the team to victory by taking the overall and landing on the podium for the third time this season!
Savatgy Extends Points Lead
Joey Savatgy entered Saturday’s race with a three-point lead over the competition. Having an extra week to prepare to defend the red plate and maintain the leader of the 250MX class, he was more than ready to get the day started. In the first moto, he brought the heat as he stayed in the front of the pack throughout most of the race. Coming into the second moto, he was more comfortable with the track and quickly made it to the front of the line. Joey crossed the checkers in 1st and his 4-1 for the day brought him to the top of the podium and a 20 point-lead!
“It was great weekend. Moto 1 was a little tough on all of us, as the track was super rough and the ruts were deep. We made a few good changes in between motos and came out on top at the end of Moto 2.”
Forkner Continues to Thrill
Rookie Austin Forkner continues to impress and he did not let Pennsylvania’s crowd down. Throughout the day, he continued to prove that he is a serious contender in the race to the championship. His KX250F sped past the competition and brought him to the front in the first moto. An incident with another rider pushed him back but he soon found himself back towards the front. Austin would end the day in the Top 5 and is determined to take the lead at Tennessee!
“First moto was good aside from my faulty gate. The track was extremely rough, so I decided to sit back, ride smart and let everyone else make mistakes which allowed me to finish fifth. I started the second moto dead last after colliding with another ride but rode back up to eighth. Overall, we learned a lot this weekend and I believe I belong up front.”
Another Holeshot for Cianciarulo
Bouncing back from Thunder Valley, Adam Cianciarulo gave it his all at High Point. He stayed consistent and remained at the front throughout the day. In the second moto, he took the holeshot and led the pack at the start of the race. Continuing to rely on his speed, he proved he has what it takes to lead the pack. Ending the day in the Top 10, Adam continues to improve and looks forward to really unleashing as the series goes on.
“Each weekend we’re improving. I unfortunately hit the gate in the first moto which made things a little more difficult but made up for it in the second moto by pulling the holeshot which was a nice confidence booster. I believe I rode a smart race this weekend and overall I’m grateful to even be back out here racing.”
Tonus Stays Steady
Throughout the season, Arnaud Tonus has been maintaining his smooth and consistent riding style. The European rider was in his element as he really showed off his talent throughout the day. Week after week he continues to improve and shows he has what it takes to take the lead. Fueled by a strong performance this weekend, Arnaud is ready for next Saturday’s race!
“I felt really good on the track today. I didn’t quite get the jump in Moto 1, but was able to finish inside the top-10, which felt good. At the start of the second moto someone hit me and I went off the track where my bike and I were stuck for a few minutes. I know I’m capable of more and am looking forward to Muddy Creek.”
