AmPro Yamaha Factory Off-Road & Coastal Racing Husqvarna Pick ProTaper
IRVINE, CA – March 4, 2016 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – From cruisers to road racers, Florida becomes the epicenter of the motorcycle world during Daytona Bike Week. It also marks the kick-off of the Grand National Cross Country series as the best off-road riders in the world try to dodge the infamous palmetto trees after a long winter off the bike. For the 2016 GNCC season, ProTaper is honored to be the pick of top pros, including the AmPro Yamaha Factory Off-Road Team and Coastal Racing Husqvarna.
“With guys like last year’s GNCC XC1 runner up Grant Baylor, young gun Walker Fowler and Aussie Enduro champ Daniel Milner on the AmPro YZFs, the talent pool is incredibly deep,” says ProTaper Brand Manager Paul Perebijnos. “Throw in ISDE overall winner Ryan Sipes and fellow Six Days competitor Layne Michael on the Coastal Racing Husqvarnas, and the GNCC series becomes the most competitive in the country,” Paul points out.
“However even the best racers will need a competitive advantage to win in the challenging conditions found in Florida.” The Wild Boar course is just about what you would expect from a GNCC event in Florida, according to the promoter, Racer Productions, Inc. This course sees loamy, sandy soil, mixed with black dirt and of course, a few tough mud holes to contend with. As with most sand tracks, the course gets rough as the race wears on.
“This challenging terrain, combined with the treacherous palmetto roots puts a premium on control,” explains Perebjinos. “ProTaper handlebars and grips will give the AmPro and Coastal Racing a better feel and more control, which might just be the edge they need to win at the Wild Boar GNCC.”
Since bursting onto the scene in 1991, ProTaper has continued to produce some of the world’s best premium control components available on the market today. “We have learned a thing or two about East Coast riding conditions over the years starting with the original ‘Beast From The East’ Damon Bradshaw, and progressing through to the current crop of GNCC frontrunners,” adds Perebjinos. “ProTaper can be trusted to provide revolutionary products that continue to set the industry bar ever higher.”
Decades of racing, testing and refining the product has put ProTaper in this enviable position. “Starting with ProTaper’s very first innovation, the oversized, 1-1/8” handlebar, we have been developing and patenting the best technology available,” says Perebjinos. “We pride ourselves on providing an exciting, innovative and complete product line to fill the control and drive needs from today’s serious racer to the weekend warrior.” Speaking of serious racers, check out the pros who will be in control at the GNCC this weekend:
Ryan Sipes, the first and only American to win the ISDE overall, is going for the GNCC XC1 Pro Championship on a Husqvarna FC350. In addition to his recent ISDE achievements, Sipes finished 6th overall in the 2015 GNCC series, including five podium finishes. Fellow ISDE competitor Layne Michael joins Sipes on a Husqvarna FC250 in the XC2 Pro Lites Class. In 2015, Michael had three XC2 podiums before a wrist injury forced him out. The Coastal Racing team also includes Pennsylvania’s Craig DeLong in the XC2 Pro Lites Class on a Husqvarna TC250. DeLong earned the GNCC’s Top Amateur Award in 2014, along with a 250 A Championship, and finished 4th overall in his XC2 debut season. On the ATV side, 2013 XC2 champ Brycen Neal is going for the XC1 Pro Championship aboard a Yamaha-supported YFZ450R.
AmPro/Yamaha riders include 2x GNCC XC2 champ Grant Baylor racing a ProTaper-equipped YZ450FX in both GNCC XC1 and AMA National Enduros; Defending Australian Four-Day Enduro Champion Daniel Milner is aboard a PRoTaper outfitted YZ450FX in both GNCC XC1 and Kenda Full Gas Sprint Enduro competition; while Nick Davis rounds out the AmPro team on a YZ250FX in both GNCC XC2 and AMA National Enduro for 2016.
