Cody Webb and Rachel Gutish Take Top Podium Honors
MERRITT ISLAND, FL – September 30, 2015 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – After a summer hiatus, the GEICO EnduroCross returned to action for Round 5 of the series and the Engine Ice sponsored KTM/RPM Racing Team returned to their winning ways with an overall Pro Class win by Cody Webb and the Women’s Class win by Rachel Gutish.
The Sacramento round proved to be a showdown for the series points lead and Cody Webb was poised to take over the lead. “This was a home race of sorts for me as this is the closest race on the circuit,” explained Webb. “I knew I had to dominate the race if I wanted to control the points lead. Guys like Roberts, Haaker and Brown have really raised their game, so there’s no room for slacking off in the next few rounds.”
Webb now holds a seven point lead over Haaker heading into the Denver event, which will take place next weekend. Brown is twenty points back in third.
With the overall win in the Women’s Class, Rachel Gutish is now tied in points with Lexi Pechout for the lead. “It was great to be back on the top step of the podium,” said Gutish. “I just need to carry this momentum into the Denver round next weekend.”
“I’m proud of the performance from this team this weekend – EnduroCross is a tough sport and you need to be on your game to continually win,” claimed David Kimmey, owner of CycleLogic Products, the manufacturer of Engine Ice. “These guys and gals came back ready to race and their results prove their conditioning and equipment was on point. I’m confident the Denver round will produce similar results.”
Engine Ice is also a sponsor of the GEICO EnduroCross series. You can watch the Sacramento race on the CBS Sports Network – Wednesday, October 7 at 11:00 pm ET. Check your local listing or visit www.cbssportsnetwork.com for more information.
