MILLVILLE, MN July 20, 2015 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull/KTM’s Shane McElrath bounced back from his 11th-place Moto 1 result to breakthrough with a solid ride during Moto 2 at a hot and humid Round 8 at Spring Creek MX Park. His 11-6 moto scores placed him eighth overall. Teammate Jessy Nelson did his fair share of battling as he came through the pack to pass over 10 riders in Moto 1, scoring 12th overall with a 15-10 moto results. Mitchell Oldenburg finished with his fifth top-15 result of the season after scoring 14-13 moto scores on the day.
McElrath Breaks Into Top-10
The conditions were a mixture of wet and muddy in the morning to dry and slick in the afternoon, making things especially challenging for the riders as they tackled the hilly and rutted track. McElrath’s opening moto saw him nearly break into the top 10 after a mid-pack start, but it was in Moto 2 that he was able to shine. He got a great start and pushed to finish sixth, giving him eighth overall.
Nelson was ready to post another top-10 result in Minnesota, and though he came extremely close considering he was forced to come through the pack in Moto 1. After coming around the first lap in 25th, Nelson was on a hard charge to make up as many spots as he could, eventually finishing the 30 minutes plus two laps in 15th. He found redemption in Moto 2 as he moved through the pack to score 10th, placing him just outside the top-10 overall in 12th.
Oldenburg has been a consistent fixture in the top-15 and he did it again with two solid showings in Millville. In the opening moto Oldenburg battled in the top 10 for some time, eventually finishing 14th. His Moto 2 effort was even better as he came across the line in 13th. The 14-13 moto scores placed him 14th overall.
The series will make its only stop to the Pacific Northwest next weekend for Round 9 at picturesque Washougal MX Park in Washougal, Washington on July 25.
The riders wore the 2016 SE Air Starburst Flo Pink/Black Racewear, along with the GP Air Anarchy Red/Flo Yellow Racewear. They were sporting the Air Skully Yellow Helmet. See all of the 2016 gear sets and the 2016 Moto Helmets online and at your local TLD retailer.

“READY TO RACE” for KTM, these three words are far more than a simple slogan. They stand for the entire company philosophy of developing vehicles that can without any modifications comprehensively assert themselves in any race. Direct from the dealer onto the track and into the battle for victory. Designers, engineers and riders are bound by a clear common denominator: an unconditional passion for motorcycles. The whole KTM family is a living example of this worldwide. Countless offroad World and European championship titles plus brilliant victories in the world’s toughest races (International Six Days Enduro, Dakar Rally, Erzbergrodeo, and many more) all speak for themselves. And KTM Supermotos, Naked Bikes, Superbikes and the X-Bow all demonstrate what an “orange” lead means on asphalt.
