The seventh round of the 2015 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross series was held at the historic RedBud National in Buchanan, MI on Saturday. ProTaper riders dominated the field in the 250 class by going 1-2-3-4 and earning another two spots in the top-10, making it a very successful 4th of July weekend.
ProTaper’s Jeremy Martin and Cooper Webb posted the first and second fastest qualifying times, respectively, during the 250 practice sessions, then went on to show even more speed during the motos. A 1-1 finish earned Martin the victory, with ProTaper’s Zach Osborne earning second with a 3-2 and Webb going 2-5 for 3rd on the day, giving ProTaper riders the podium sweep. Australian MX Nationals
Top 10 Finishes For Serco Yamaha
The sixth round of the Australian MX Nationals, held in Raymond Terrace, New South Wales on Sunday, marked the return of the series from its mid-season break.
ProTaper’s Luke Clout had a tough weekend. The red plate holder going into the race, he had only five points separating him from his competitors so he knew he had to be victorious in order to keep the points lead up. That was easier said than done, however, as an issue with his rear brake on the starting line left him in trouble. His competitors seized this opportunity, leaving Clout to cross the finish line in 7th and concede the points lead by one point before going into the second moto where he finished 4th. The 7-4 finish gave him 4th overall on the day, with teammate Jed Beaton earning 6th overall. Clout and Beaton are currently 2nd and 4th, respectively, in MX2 rider point standings.
“Yesterday was a tough day at the office with things not going my way at all,” said Clout. “But it’s how you bounce back. I’ll be back swinging and hungrier than ever. Because like I’ve said I don’t like seeing black on my bike.”
Riders will now make their way to the 7th round of the series, which will be held July 19 in Shepparton, VIC.
