Kawasaki’s Bryan Smith Claims Fifth Straight Sacramento Mile Win

SACRAMENTO, CA – June 1, 2015 – (Motor Sports Newswire) Coming off of his first win of the season at the Springfield Mile, Crosley Radio Kawasaki’s Bryan Smith continued his AMA Pro Flat Track winning ways in exciting fashion at the Sacramento Mile on Saturday night. Smith was not slowed by a second row start in the main event as he worked his way up to the front and drafting the leader to make a last lap pass to win by just .02 seconds.

“It was a scrap,” said Smith speaking about the final five laps of the race. “The guys made me work for it. I didn’t know coming to the checkered flag if I could get Brandon or not. His bike was really strong, but luckily I just squeaked by at the end.”

Smith has really hit his stride as the AMA Pro Flat Track as the series has shifted to its Twins events.  Smith has shown his talent on the mile-long tracks for years including his last for at Sacramento on a Kawasaki. Smith currently sits fifth in the GNC1 standings.

Mikey Martin, riding for Weirbach Racing Kawasaki had a good night as he won his heat, earned the Dash for Cash victory and sat on the pole for the main event before eventually finishing in 10th.

Next up for the AMA Pro Flat Track series is motorcycle dirt track racing’s debut in the X Games. Flat-Track action takes center stage at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on Thursday, June 4. The racing will be broadcast live on ESPN at 8:30 p.m. Eastern.
