SAN BERNARDINO, CA – May 25, 2015 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull/KTM’s Jessy Nelson put together an impressive 4-4 moto result to capture third overall and his first podium finish of the season during Round 2 at Glen Helen Raceway. Teammates Shane McElrath and Mitchell Oldenburg also scored their best finishes of the season going sixth and 12th overall, respectively.
While still getting back to 100 percent, Nelson’s speed was apparent out on the rough Glen Helen Raceway, putting in several laps out front among the best 250 Class riders in the world. He was able to show consistency to finish fourth in both motos to capture third overall.
“This weekend, I was just glad to come out safe and be on the podium,” said Nelson. “A lot better than last weekend. We made a few changes, but I’m still trying to build and get back to 100 percent. I’m 100 percent healthy, just trying to get back to that fitness I was at before I had to sit out with injury.”
McElrath showed improvement from the first race, scoring inside the top-10 in both motos. His sixth overall was a career-best finish with a 9-3 moto result, something that McElrath can build upon as the season continues.
“Each race I’m feeling better and better,” said McElrath. “I had a good second moto, but need to start out the day, putting myself into a good position when we go line up for Moto 2. We’ll get it dialed and I’m looking forward to Thunder Valley.”
Newest team member Oldenberg followed in the pattern of his teammates, putting together his top finish of the season, but also tying his career best overall finish. He made it into the top-10 in Moto 1 and came across the finish 15th in Moto 2.
The riders will start heading east as the series makes its annual stop in Colorado at Thunder Valley Motocross Park outside Denver on May 30.
All day the riders wore the SE3 Midnight Helmet. For racewear, the riders started the day with the limited edition KTM/TLD Cosmic Camo gear that will be released through KTM USA starting in June. To end the day, the TLD riders wore the new SE Air Starburst Flo Pink/Black Racewear. See more of the 2016 gear sets and the 2016 Moto Helmets online and at your local TLD retailer.

“READY TO RACE” for KTM, these three words are far more than a simple slogan. They stand for the entire company philosophy of developing vehicles that can without any modifications comprehensively assert themselves in any race. Direct from the dealer onto the track and into the battle for victory. Designers, engineers and riders are bound by a clear common denominator: an unconditional passion for motorcycles. The whole KTM family is a living example of this worldwide. Countless offroad World and European championship titles plus brilliant victories in the world’s toughest races (International Six Days Enduro, Dakar Rally, Erzbergrodeo, and many more) all speak for themselves. And KTM Supermotos, Naked Bikes, Superbikes and the X-Bow all demonstrate what an “orange” lead means on asphalt.
