Travis Coy Takes Overall Win at Virginia City Grand Prix

Blackburn, DeLong and Sheets also Grab Podium Finishes

MEDFORD, OR – April 27, 2015 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – The Virginia City Grand Prix is one of America’s greatest off-road events and to say you were the overall winner of the event is even greater. Motorcycle Superstore Bell Helmets support rider and RPM/KTM Racing’s Travis Coy can now do that and has placed his name alongside some of off-road’s legendary racers like Jack Johnson, Larry Roeseler, Danny Hamel and Ty Davis.

This year was the 44th running of the event promoted by the Outlaw MC.  It’s a three-hour event that includes lots of two-track mining roads, single track trails and rocky creek beds with course elevations of 5000-7000 feet in the mountains west of Carson City, NV. Those who have previously raced this event know that the weather can always be an issue, but this year Mother Nature helped lay out a perfect course.

“The race was perfect! We had a little snow and a little rain the night before which made for epic conditions,” explained Coy. “I got out front just a few miles in and was able stay there most of the race. I pitted on lap five and actually got passed but was able to get the lead right back and pull a gap to the finish. I’m pumped to win it my first year attending; it’s a race I’ve always wanted to try.”

At Round 4 of the AMA Kenda National Hare and Hound series, Motorcycle Superstore / Dainty Daredevil’s Meg Blackburn had another strong showing, finishing second overall in the Women’s Open A Class. Blackburn is also now in control of the class points lead.

Round 5 of the GNCC series also produced a couple of podium finishers representing the custom Motorcycle Superstore Bell Helmet – Husqvarna mounted Craig DeLong finished second overall in the XC2 Class and Becca Sheets took second in the WXC Class. Both riders currently sit second in points in their respective classes with eight rounds remaining in the series.

Superstore XC2 riders Craig DeLong and Ryder Lafferty had great starts.

Becca Sheets stands second in points in the GNCC WXC Class.
