CORONA, CA – April 8, 2015 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Troy Lee Designs rider Cole Seely embraced a well-deserved weekend off after 13 consecutive rounds of grueling action all across the country, with racing now resuming this weekend in Houston at NRG Stadium. Seely sits fourth in the 450SX Class standings with an opportunity to move up to third with four races remaining. We caught up with him to see how his weekend off went and what has been memorable to him during his first full season in the premier class.
Q: You just had your first weekend off after 13 intense rounds of action. Did you do anything special over the holiday weekend?
Cole Seely: Not really, I just ried to relax and take advantage of it being an off weekend without travel. Recovery time is always awesome.
Q: You are on the home stretch of your first full supercross season. Can you believe there are just four races left?
Cole Seely: No I can’t! As crazy as it sounds after going back-to-back for three months, I wish there were more races. I love racing supercross.
Q: You’ve mentioned a lot about adapting your weekly routine to fit the week-in week-out schedule. How much will this change once you make the switch to motocross?
Cole Seely: I plan on just going with the flow and seeing how I feel week to week. I can change my schedule depending on that. I learned a lot this supercross season that I’ll carry with my into the motocross season.
Q: This season has had its ups and downs, but you’ve really seemed to come into your own over the past month. Was there anything special about the change or have you been building that confidence since the gate dropped at A1?
Cole Seely: No, nothing special. I just focused on learning and trying to build each weekend. The whole season has been such a good learning experience for me. I know I’ll only be stronger next year starting at from the first gate drop.
Q: What has been your best memory of the season so far?
Cole Seely: Getting a podium near my hometown at Anaheim 3!
Q: Anything you would like to forget?
Cole Seely: The first two rounds.
Q: Have you been able to tackle any outdoor testing and how much are you looking forward to making the switch to motocross in just over a month?
Cole Seely: Yeah, we’ve been testing quite a bit and it has been awesome. The bike is feeling great. I’m excited to race the outdoors on the 450. I think it suits me well!
