March 30, 2015 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – KTM’s full-throttle commitment in expanding its diverse Street range with class-leading machines to reflect the desires of its global audience shows now sign of slowing down with the introduction of the RC 250 and 250 DUKE for the Japanese and other selected markets.

Despite the strong performance attributes and popularity of the RC 200 and 200 DUKE (launched in 2014 and 2012,respectively) compared to rival machines with a 49cc advantage, KTM felt that it was best to go the extra mile in the face of new motorcycles from Japanese manufacturers and develop another capacity in its range in order to set a new standard for 250cc street bikes.

Aimed at the Japanese market in particular, both the RC 250 and 250 DUKE are typical KTM; light, dynamic and with a focus on performance. Built to the same ‘READY TO RACE’ formula as all machines from the Austrian manufacturer and based on the successful platform of the RC 390 and 390 DUKE machines, the aggressive and distinctive-styled 250cc bikes achieve their goal in taking a re-worked version of their bigger brother’s engine without a reduction in the fun stakes.

With a maximum output of 23kW (31.3hp) at 9,000rpm and a torque maximum of 24Nm at 7,250rpm, the 248.8cc liquid-cooled short stroke engine combines an instantaneous power delivery with great refinement while also delivering a fantastic and lightning-quick response, from idle all the way to the revlimiter.
While both machines share the same engine and high specification braking and suspension components, they have separate ergonomics and chassis to reflect their individual characters. The two machines feature steel tubular trellis frames with a focus on sports performance, but the RC benefitting from KTM’s Moto3 World Championship knowledge to offer riders absolute sports bike precision on the road and track.
In a capacity class where riders demand scary cornering speeds and the ability to brake super-late to stay faster longer, machine
weights of just 139kg for the DUKE and 147kg for the RC provide a perfect overall package of outright 250cc performance on top of absolute reliability, durability and real-world practicality.
Whether it is commuting to work each day, scratching round favorite turns at the weekend or just heading to the shops, the new RC 250 and 250 DUKE will set the 250cc capacity benchmark. www.ktm.com
