Blackburn Blasts Check Chase Hare & Hound

MEDFORD, OR – February 25, 2015 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Round two of the Kenda/SRT AMA Hare & Hound National Championship Series took place in the desert of Barstow, CA, this past weekend and Motorcycle Superstore / Bell Helmet support rider Megan Blackburn took the win in the women’s class.

National Hare & Hounds have a reputation of being tough events and the 65th annual “Check Chase” was no exception. Over 330 riders entered the event with nearly a third of them not finishing. Blackburn put in a consistent ride and ended up 115th – finishing in the top half of the field.

“Overall, I had a fantastic race. The bomb run was pretty hectic and I got stuck behind other riders waiting for safe opportunities to pass. The 80-mile course was mainly rocky single track, with a few valleys. I took the class lead around mile 25 and put my head down to build a lead. I came in the pits roughly 5 minutes ahead at mile 40. Over the final 40 miles I just focused on keeping myself together and moving quickly. Ultimately, I finished 30 minutes ahead of the 2nd place woman.”

After two rounds, (she finished 2nd in class at round one), Blackburn now has the lead in the Women’s Class championship. With eight rounds remaining it’s a long season and a lot of racing, especially when you throw in a few Big 6, WORCS and EnduroCross events.

Meg Blackburn is now in control of the Women’s Class points race.
