CORONA, CA – January 16, 2015 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull/KTM’s Jessy Nelson comes off his second-consecutive podium appearance in Phoenix and looks to continue the trend as the team heads to Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California for the second time this season. Teammate Shane McElrath proved his speed in Phoenix, hopeful to make his first-ever trip to the Western Regional 250SX Class podium in Anaheim.
Following his first-career victory at Round 1, Nelson returned to the podium in Phoenix despite not feeling 100 percent during the main event. He’s making the proper adjustments to make sure he’s contesting for his second win in Anaheim.
“I feel a lot better coming into this week,” said Nelson. “We got to look at the track during press day and it’s looking like it could be really fun. I’m shooting for a win, but at the end of the day I want to hold onto that red plate.”
McElrath is showing improvements every week and is eager to be another new figure on the Main Event podium. He rode to a great heat race finish in Phoenix, and despite a tough first lap in the Main Event, he made the most of the 15 laps and moved from 18th to eighth.
“I was really hopeful in Phoenix to show off my speed and had a good Heat Race, but unfortunately I had to show that speed coming from the back of the pack in the main,” said McElrath. “I’ve worked on my starts and think I can be a contender for the podium.”
As the riders head into Round 3, Nelson holds a six-point lead over second in the championship standings. McElrath sits seventh overall, just five points back of the top five.
Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull/KTM rider Darryn Durham will be sitting out of competition this weekend in Anaheim. His return date is still unknown at this time.
The Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Red Bull/ KTM team will return to Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California with practice and qualifying starting just after noon local time on Saturday, January 17.

The whole KTM family is a living example of this worldwide.
