Moose Racing’s John Dowd Lines Up One Last Time

JANESVILLE, WI – July 1, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Moose Racing’s John Dowd decided to make the last running of the Southwick National his last professional appearance in front of his home crowd at the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. Round 6 was held at the infamous “sandbox” at MotoX 338 in Southwick, Mass., and Dowd ended the day with a 30-19 moto score, giving him 24th overall. Continuing to gain experience in the 450 Class, Phil Nicoletti spent a lot of time at the front of the pack during Saturday’s race, eventually putting together an impressive 6-13 moto score for seventh overall.

The Grand National Cross Country Series met for the final time before heading on its summer break. The mountain resort of Snowshoe offered a beautiful backdrop with a challenging course, and a little weather mixed in to make it interesting. On Saturday, Kevin Yoho scored his best finish of the season when he narrowly missed the XC1 ATV podium in fourth. Fellow XC1 riders Braden Henthorn and Brian Wolf earned 10th and 11th, respectively, while Eric Hoyland had some issues and was credited with 13th.

When the bike race lined up for their staggered start on Sunday, Josh Strang was poised to return to the XC1 podium once again. Unfortunately, he was unable to complete the 3 hour race and was credited with 12th. In the XC2 class, Shane Hufford Jr. made his way to the podium for the first time this season. His solid rides over the past few rounds have moved him into fourth in the XC2 standings, just six points out of third.

Weather threw a wrench in the running of the Enduro X at X Games Munich, moving the race from Saturday to Sunday. Kacy Martinez shot out the gate in the final to earn the holeshot, but with a tough, rutted track, she would eventually go on to finish eighth. In the Men’s Enduro X, Justin Soule and Ricky Dietrich both earned spots for the final, eventually finishing 12th and 15th, respectively.
