Thor Riders Shine at the Historical Daytona Supercross

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – March 11, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Thor’s Ryan Villopoto took the holeshot and led 17 of the 20 lap main event as he cruised to victory in the 450SX race at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla. His dominating performance pushed him atop the points standings where he now leads by two points with seven races remaining on the Monster Energy Supercross circuit.

In the 250SX class, Thor’s Marvin Musquin captured his first win of the season in commanding fashion, coming across the finish line eight seconds ahead of the runner-up. The win moved Musquin into third place in the Eastern Regional 250SX points standings.

Dean Wilson was blazing fast in qualifying, but a few mistakes in the main event pushed him back to finish just off the podium. His fourth-place finish kept him second in the points standings. Justin Hill started the main in 10th, but made his way up to sixth, while Cole Thompson also came through the pack from 18th to finish inside the top 10.

Thor’s Gautier Paulin made another podium appearance, finishing second overall in MX1 class at the second round of the FIM Motocross World Championship in Si Racha, Thailand. His strong 4-2 finish helped him maintain third-place in the points standings. David Philippaerts took 11th overall in Thailand with a 6-14 moto result.

In MX2 class, Thor’s Christophe Charlier just missed the overall podium after charging hard in the final moto to finish the day fourth overall with a 9-3 moto result. Alessandro Lupino rode near Charlier in both races, taking fifth overall with an 8-4 moto finish.

Thor’s Kurt Caselli and Ivan Ramirez finished second overall at the Tecate SCORE International San Felipe 250, less than two minutes behind the first-place finishers. Mike Brown and Toby Price took fifth.

Racing isn’t finished for the week, with Thor’s GNCC riders gearing up for Tuesday’s opening round in River Ranch, Fla.
