SEMA Conference Showcases New Technology for Product Manufacturers

DIAMOND BAR, CA – January 30, 2013 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Dozens of SEMA manufacturing members will gather in Diamond Bar, CA, on February 7, 2013, to learn first-hand how new software, surface scanning tools and related technology is being used to improve the product development process. During the SEMA Product Development Conference: Race to Innovate event, participants will meet with suppliers who will explain how technologies and tools are rapidly changing the way products are conceived and delivered to market. Participants will also have an opportunity to measure the 2013 Ford Ranger T6 and the 2013 Toyota Hilux during the event.

“Technology has advanced tremendously in the last couple of years,” said Jamie Eriksen, SEMA Education Director. “It’s easier and more affordable than ever for manufacturers to take advantage of the tools that are available. The SEMA Product Development Conference will give an overview of the latest tools that can help manufacturers get products to market faster and more cost efficiently.”

Experts will discuss topics such as product planning (current data, research and trends) and product development (3D desktop software, surface scanning tools, 3D printers, etc.). Manufacturing participants will then be able to inspect and measure the 2013 Ford Ranger T6 (a one-ton pickup sold through the world but not in the U.S. or Canada) and the Toyota Hilux, a vehicle imported to the United States through a joint program of the SEMA International Department and the U.S. Department of Commerce. These vehicles are popular worldwide but aren’t sold in the United States.
