Graves Motorsports to go Endurance Racing with Team Zyvax and S.G.A. Racing

KENNESAW, GA – September 7th, 2011 – (Motor Sports Newswire) – Graves Motorsports is proud announce their re-established championship-winning endurance alliance with Team Zyvax and new partnership with S.G.A. Racing / / Yamaha Champions Riding School Team for the upcoming WERA National Endurance Series Round 6 on September 9 – 10, 2011 at Barber Motorsports Park.

After a thrilling double championship-winning 2010 season and a hiatus for much of the current season, Team Zyvax is headed back to the grid and hungry for some wins. “I have so missed being in the pits and the thrill of competition,” said Zyvax team owner JB Layman, “It’s great to be going back to the track again.”

In their maiden outing of 2011, Team Zyvax will contest the Medium Weight Division in WERA’s upcoming endurance race. Astride their famously fast Graves-prepped Yamaha R6, Team Zyvax’s rider line-up will be AMA Pro Superbike rider Chris Clark and Graves Motorsports’ 16-year-old phenom and recent AMA race winner, Garrett Gerloff.

Another Graves-partnered team going WERA endurance racing at the “Augusta of Motorsports” next weekend is grid-newcomer, S.G.A. Racing / / Yamaha Champions Riding School Team out of Bloomington, IN. The team will make their racing debut in the Medium Weight Division on their Graves Yamaha R6 piloted by Dale Kieffer, former AMA Superbike racer / instructor at the Yamaha Champions Riding School and none other than championship-winning Mr. Daytona, Scott Russell!

Charles Grannon, owner and founder of the new team, quickly became enthralled with racing after attending a World Superbike race at Miller Motorsports Park in 2009. While there Grannon also discovered the Yamaha Champions Riding School which led him to Yamaha motorcycles, which in turn led him to Chuck Graves of Graves Motorsports / Monster Energy Graves Yamaha.

Though he has forty years of riding motorcycles on the street under his belt, racing was an exciting new world for Grannon. “Graves and his crew took me under their wing and generously provided an unfettered view into the world of professional racing from inside a professional racing team,” said Grannon. It wasn’t long until Grannon decided he wanted to get involved with racing and created S.G.A. Racing LLC (the letters in the team name are the first initials of each of Grannon’s grandchildren).

In order to put together a solid team Grannon knew he needed top-notch machinery and top-notch riders. First he purchased two Graves Yamaha Daytona Sportbikes with an endurance package (for Graves Endurance Package info check out Then after having met Russell and Kieffer at the Yamaha Champions Riding School, Grannon asked the two pilots to ride for his new team. “To my amazement they said yes,” said a smiling Grannon, “I can’t wait for my first ever event as a team owner!”

Both Team Zyvax and S.G.A. Racing / / Yamaha Champions Riding School Team will be supported in the pits by seasoned AMA veterans from Graves Motorsports / Monster Energy Graves Yamaha, and will share “pit stop” responsibilities together along with the help of a Graves WORKS parts specialist. Anyone familiar with racing knows endurance races can be won or lost in the pits. Armed with Graves Motorsports advanced pit stop equipment, these two crews are ready for the challenge.

The four-hour endurance race starts Saturday at 12:30pm CST. Come out and watch Team Zyvax, S.G.A.
